Badly Drawn Boy is Damon Gough, a one-man musical machine. His past has seen two great records, one a soundtrack for About A Boy. Have You Fed The Fish? Finds him dealing with what he worked hard to avoid, success.
Grand:
There is nothing great here.
Okay:
“40 Days. 40 Fights” – A tribute to one who is loved. But where is the depth?
“Tickets To What You Need” – Breaks up the monotone.
“Have You Fed The Fish?” – It’s lovely, but seemingly shallow.
Bland:
“You Were Right” – Rubbish.
“All Possibilities” – Bah.
This record seems rushed and goes from boring to worse. We are used to many deep layers to BDB and here we get nothing but a shallow puddle instead of a deep blue ocean. Many said BDB was the Beck of England, if this is all he’s got then please take that back. Beck is a solar system away from this.
