50 Cent – Get Rich or Die Tryin’

50 Cent
Artist: 50 Cent
Title: Get Rich or Die Tryin’
Label: Interscope
Rating: 7/10

The Corporate Line: 50 Cent, born Curtis Jackson 26 years ago, is the real deal, the genuine article. He’s a man of the streets, intimately familiar with its codes and its violence, but still, 50, an incredibly intelligent and deliberate man, holds himself with a regal air as if above the pettiness which surrounds him.

The Good:
“Patiently Waiting” – Eminem doesn’t do 50 Cent justice. 50 Cent shines on.
“Many Men” – Raw. 50 Cent finds his groove. He’s been shot numerous times and you get it live.
“If I Can’t” – Eminem is known for his hooks, well it seems he’s passed that skill down to his protégé.
“High All The Time” and “Heat” – Proves why 50 Cent just might be the future.

The Bad:
“What Up Gangsta” – The chorus finds 50 Cent pushing it up Michael Jackson style but it’s the dry rhymes that bring this track down to moral levels.
“Poor Lil Rich” – Goes nowhere.
“Back Down” and “P.I.M.P.” – Throwaway track.
“Don’t Push Me” – The fall off has begun.

Frankly: 50 Cent has a style that could put other hip-hoppers to shame. Could. After about track ten the record falls off far from what the beginning had to offer. “Many Men” is leaps and bounds over the likes of “Don’t Push Me”.
