What do you expect to hear from an artist with a name like Nicky Love? You’d think it’d be an album full of ballads or just something to get down to, right? Well, that isn’t what Honeyvision is going to do for you. It’s just a bit more complicated than that.
“Slow Motion” is a choppy little track with a tight pop hook. But I can’t understand what is up with the “Box”. It’s strange and doesn’t fit at all.
“They Don’t Understand Me” tells something about each of us. No one feels like anyone else really understands us or whether we understand ourselves. The symbolism is as tight as the hook.
Nicky Love has a face and voice that could stop traffic. You knew there had to be a bite, right? Well, there is. The songs are all over the place. One rocks, one pops, one strays, and another just doesn’t seem to get it. Honeyvision is like looking through glasses with honey all over the lenses. It sucks when you can’t see, but it’s yummy when it hits your tummy.
