Ludacris brings an old-school flow to a new-school genre. With Word Of Mouf, Ludacris says he has nothing to prove, and he’s right.
Ludacris still knows how to deliver. “Growing Pains” is tough old-school style with a tough as nails exterior while deep in the soul there is something vulnerable and real.
“Rollout (My Business)” finds a man with a lot of popularity, however, it’s not always what it’s cracked up to be. Even when silly, Ludacris can make a good track like “Saturday (Oooh Oooh)”.
There is something to be said for “Keep It On The Hush” and doing it freestyle with a track like “Word Of Mouf”.
Somewhere between good and bad is “Area Codes”. It might have a radio hook but it’s not tough like Ludacris deserves to act. Mystikal comes in to rip the section up on “Move Bitch”, even if the rest is flack.
There are some tracks that aren’t quite up to par. “Cry Babies (Oh No)” is a weak attempt at acting cool. “She Said” has a few goodhearted occasions yet still isn’t near good.
