Now hear this:
“Understanding” – clean, tight, and ready to please melody.
“Come On” – a good ballad.
“Hey Little Lady” – one of the few up tempo tracks that has a good melody and clean spirited.
“Baby Girl” – although the song is quite simplistic its innocence is its real enduring quality.
Hear it once:
“Uh Huh” – if it didn’t sound like a Sisqo rip-off the song might not be that bad.
“Gots Ta Be” – besides the illiterate nature of the songs title, the lame lyrics hold this down ‘I want to be your mother’. Um, okay if you say so. The vocals are quite good.
“B2K” – arrogance doesn’t come without an okay melody.
“I’m Not Finished” – a good bridge, but an extremely poor chorus.
Ignore this:
“Why I Love You” – I’m not sure what is worse, the off-key singing or the lyrics.
“Fantasy” – ‘she’s my fantasy/ my chocolate ecstasy’. Enough said.
B2K has a long way to go if they want to be mentioned in the same breath as the Jackson Five or New Edition. But their freshman release, though pretty average, shows some potential.
