For LFO, life has been good. They took a simple summer tune and made it a huge hit. Falling out of obscurity in America, they found themselves quickly becoming stars. Well, that was a few summers ago, and in the pop world years crash down like decades. As fast as your star can rise, it will also fall. LFO must be pretty sure of themselves considering they called their sophomore release Life Is Good. But listening to “28 Days” you have to wonder if all is well.
LFO can’t help but sing about love, both failing and falling in it. Love ends up taking over, makes you wonder why the album was named as such. “Every Other Time” finds love to be a war. “Alayna” finds love a little bit of trouble while “Dandelion” brings love to its knees. And then comes another, then another love song too many. Perhaps they have a hit, two would be stretching it, maybe one will be “Erase Her”, but these aren’t the user-friendly fellows we saw running around fancy-free a couple of years ago. Something about the title Life Is Good just doesn’t seem completely on. If you are expecting the same LFO, then I’m not going rain on your parade. The album will do it for me.
