Lennon – 5:30 Saturday Morning

Lennon
Artist: Lennon
Title: 5:30 Saturday Morning
Label: Arista
Rating: 5/10

Lennon hails from the Nashville area, but listening to her album you’d think she grew up in hell.

Lennon looks like an innocent enough girl until you get a load of the title of “Property Of Goatfucker”. Sounds just like it reads. I don’t know if this is metal or what. “Brake Of Your Car” is a little less in your face and tones down Lennon’s rampaging spirit. “My Beautiful” continues the spiral down to depression that doesn’t seem to last longer than a few heartbeats.

“Morning” is one in a line of mediocre tracks. Along with that comes “Thank You” and “Trying To Make Me”. It’s hard not hear the struggle, but it seems producer LA Reid and his crew are out of their element.

Lennon sounds like a cross between Alanis and Kittie. Yet Lennon gets lost somewhere in-between. She doesn’t have the hooks Alanis does and she doesn’t have the torturous motives that Kittie bring. Lennon is in nowhere land.
