Layzie Bone is back again doing it solo. He rose to uncharted heights as part of the Bone Thugs-N-Harmony crew. The harmonies aren’t there, but the slick, sharp tongue still is.
Layzie Bone starts off his battle with his take on “Carole Of The Bells” called “Carole Of The Bones”. It’s not as poignant as meant, but what do you expect when the next track entitled “Battlefield” is about guns and how he is going to put people in a hearse?
“Fear No Man” opens with the remnant lyric “that’s the sound of the men of the chain gang” and the rest of the lyrics fly, leaving you sitting in a blizzard blinded by words. “Deadly Musical” has a great groove, but the guns and ho’s thing is again just getting so worn. It’s become a parody of itself.
There are a few nice tracks, even when occasionally tasteless. “Still The Greatest” featuring Flesh-N-Bone and Big Chan as well as “Up Against The Wall” showcase Layzie Bone’s ability to take a good melody and make it go far.
