Jump, Little Children – Vertigo

Jump, Little Children
Artist: Jump, Little Children
Title: Vertigo
Label: EZ Chief
Rating: 9/10

Who in the hell Jump, Little Children are, I don’t know. It’s a few fellows from South Carolina I found out, but I reckon that’s all I know, or can or should know.

“Vertigo” is stunning, just jaw-dropping right from the sexy verses that crash into an amazing bridge. Surely J,LC can’t keep this up. It’s too powerful, too intense, too plush and just too gorgeous to be sustained. But no, they have to go and bring it on again and again. Take a seat, because you’ll be here for a while. “Angeldust” is, pardon me, heavenly.

Singer Jay Clifford has an outstanding voice, one that you just don’t forget. He bowls you over when he proves it possible that J,LC are just as good doing it in slow motion on “Hold Your Tongue”. Seriously, I feel like I’m having an out of body experience. I want to freak. I want to call everyone I know and tell them they won’t believe this freaking awesome album I discovered. It truly is a gem and it’s on some label I never even heard of. “Lover’s Greed” jumps up another level of pain sleeping in a giant.

“Come Around” is just classic hit based rock ‘n’ roll and is the answer to my prayers.

It’s impossible to bring my true emotions across, but there are tracks like “Mother’s Eyes” and “Pigeon” that make you want to cry. You know when you get those goosebumps on your arm and you feel that shiver running up your spine until it buzzes the back of your head? Vertigo does that. J,LC gives you that. What a rare, rare thing to receive these days. I’m still shivering, I’m still amazed, and I’m still baffled by this album. Best of all, I’ve listened to it a dozen times and it still has me mesmerized.
