Jimmy Eat World – Bleed American

Jimmy Eat World
Artist: Jimmy Eat World
Title: Bleed American
Label: Dreamworks
Rating: 7/10

Maybe you haven’t heard of Jimmy Eat World. You aren’t alone. They released a few albums and then it seemed that they disappeared from the face of the earth. Well, they are back with a new record label and an album, Bleed American, full of catchy rock songs that will make a call to arms for top forty radio around the country.

First in line is “Bleed American”. The big hook will grab you, but “A Praise Chorus” is different, something more flavorful and not exactly the things we’ve heard a million times in the past.

Is “A Middle” a nod to Elvis Costello? Interesting either way. Jimmy Eat World seem to have a real fondness for the ’80’s as you hear “Sweetness”. “Get It Faster” isn’t moral but I sure like it. “My Sundown” makes for a good send-off.

Jimmy Eat World may be an odd name, it doesn’t exactly roll of the tongue, but don’t hold it against them. And don’t hold it against them that they hold space in the same arena as Third Eye Blind and Matchbox 20.
