Ashanti. Best none as a sidekick for the likes of Ja Rule on “Always On Time”, “How We Roll” with Big Pun and “What’s Love” with Fat Joe. So you’ve heard her, you just may not have realized it.
Hot, hot, hot:
“Foolish” – Not in your face, but definitely in your head.
“Leaving (Always On Time Part II)” featuring Ja Rule – One track where Ashanti finds her groove and Ja Rule barely even shows up.
“Scared” featuring Irv Gotti – Aside from Gotti and his terrible lyrical display this track will keep you moving.
“Over” – Beautiful ballad.
“Unfoolish” – Quintessential Ashanti. Tight from start to end.
“Dreams” – As beautiful as it is inspirational.
Mild, mild, mild:
“Happy” – Hot beats, but the lyrics can’t quite hold up its end.
“Call” – A one way conversation.
“VooDoo” – A nice track.
Not, not, not:
“Baby” – Too much ‘baby’ nonsense, one is enough ten is just plain annoying.
Ashanti has quite a debut on her hands. It’s soulful, powerful, and not just the same old tired emotions and tracks.
