Joseph Arthur has just released his third album, Come To Where I’m From, and you still have no idea who he is, right? I’m not surprised. You may feel differently should you catch a listen to the opening epic, “In the Sun”.
“Chemical” invokes Beck, but “History” doesn’t go as far. Instead, the album takes a turn that is much more introspective and dark, as in “Invisible Hands”, but then the light flows in as if the shades had been pulled up on the Beatle-ish “Cockroach”. You can’t miss the twanging electric guitar, marching lyrics, and fantastic melody.
“Exhausted” is an angry blast followed by the deliciously mellow “Eyes On My Back”. The album ends with the fabulous “Speed Of Light”. Joseph Arthur has a lot to offer, and if you give him a chance, he’ll prove it to you.
