Amanda Ghost – Ghost Stories

Amanda Ghost
Artist: Amanda Ghost
Title: Ghost Stories
Label: Warner Bros.
Rating: 5/10

Bringing her London style over the rushing waters to the big US of A, Amanda Ghost won’t go unknown for long as she lays her sweet pop rock style across our airwaves. You could find yourself enjoying her sound as easily on the dance floor as lying in your bed counting sheep.

“Filthy Mind” is dance hall bubble gum with a flavor that lasts and lasts. The fury will enchant you, but don’t get too comfortable because “Idol” swoops in with a flavor all its own. The song grows out of tender foreplay and into a timeless climax. “The Wrong Man” throws together the Chemical Brothers with Shirley Manson as a guest. It’s leaves a really bitter taste. The first half of the album is wrapped up tightly by “Cellophane”.

The second half isn’t as powerful, just a bit more heart wrenching, with tracks like “Blind Man and “Silver Lining”. Ghost walks, then runs, through “Empty”. Her voice dances and shivers along the way and right into the finale, “Numb”.

Amanda Ghost is a welcome change from the overproduced, manufactured crap I have to suffer through daily. Don’t be afraid, just be ready.
