Teddy Geiger – Underage Thinking

Teddy Geiger
Artist: Teddy Geiger
Title: Underage Thinking
Label: Columbia
Rating: 6/10

FILE UNDER: Imagine John Mayer at seventeen.

CORPORATE LINE: Underage Thinking, the debut album from music prodigy/singer/songwriter Teddy Geiger features 12 honest arresting songs that showcases this artist’s amazing talent. In what will be one of the year’s standout albums from one of music’s rising stars, Underage Thinking includes the tracks “For You I Will (Confidence),” “Air Dry,” “Thinking Underage,” and more. Clearly one of music’s brightest new acts with his incredible voice and undeniable captivating lyrics, Underage Thinking marks the arrival of an artist who’s music potential is simply beyond measure.

THE GOOD:
For You I will (Confidence)” – Geiger will make the girls swoon. This song is perfect for an episode of the O.C. or one of the umpteen teen flicks out there. Imagine a scene where the boy loses girl and longs to have her back and you’ll be in the right frame of mind.
“Try To Hard” – Sure it will invoke John Mayer and yet it’s easy to be impressed when the singer/songwriter is still a teen.

THE AVERAGE:
“These Walls” – A nice song—but not a hit. It lacks anything more than a pop tinged melody minus a great hook.
“Thinking Underage” – Of all the tracks this shows the real potential of Teddy Geiger. It isn’t a pop song and shows that once he gets more life under his wings Geiger could write some really deep, soulful songs. Right now the only thing hurting Geiger is being seventeen and not having enough life experiences. Another song that shows a budding star is the ballad “Seven Days Without You.”
“Night Air” –Minus a catchy hook.

THE BAD:
None.

FRANKLY: Once Teddy Geiger grows up a bit he could be the next big thing. Right now he’s a pretty boy that can sing and play multiple instruments. He isn’t going to be confused with the likes of Jack Johnson or David Gray.
