Stan Getz was the greatest sax player who has ever lived. So its an opinion and surely someone has a differing opinion, but since you are reading this believe my words, he is the greatest. His ability to make the saxophone sound so beautiful is unmatched and not lost on these recordings.
“Moonlight In Vermont”- What a gorgeous piece.
“Early Autumn” – Is as cool and brisk as the fall air.
“Tour’s End” – What a piece of work and absolutely gorgeous and uplifting.
“The Girl From Ipanema” – Eddie Sauter is a bit of a spoiler on vocals, but Getz plays above and beyond the vocals.
One let down is the missing “Corcovado (Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars)” otherwise this is a must buy for anyone who has yet to be touched by Stan Getz. Although his career spanned forty years you’ll find this timeless.
