G Love & Special Sauce brings something different every time his voice coaxes a microphone. Electric Mile is no different.
Electric Mile opens with the air of invisibility and G Love’s voice singing about a ska beat on “Unified”. They flip it with the jam-induced “Praise Up”. “Parasite” gets live with a hip-hop foundation, but it still boasts the Philadelphonic style. “Poison” boasts of a poor man’s Rolling Stones.
“Free At Last” may be the simplest song on all of Electric Mile, but it is also the best. The simple hook and clean melody add up to addiction. G Love has been known for his potent mix of funky blues with great stories fitting right in beside them. Electric Mile doesn’t have such a mix. It suffers badly from a lack of quality and too much consistency.
