British house/R&B vocalist Gabrielle was a nightclub singer when she wrote “Dreams”; after she recorded it in 1993, the single set a record for highest chart entry by a debut act when it hit number two in England. A week later, “Dreams” was the number one single in the land, and Gabrielle picked up a Brit Award for Best Newcomer. Her debut album Find Your Way sold over a million copies worldwide, and paved the way for her sophomore self-titled album, released in 1996 and produced by the Boilerhouse Boys.
