Artist: Garageland
Title: Do What You Want
Label: Food Chain
Garageland open with a Smash Mouth melodic organ sprint on “Love Song”, but that’s as close as those two get in comparisons. For one thing, Jeremy Eade can actually sing, but he can’t come up with good lyrical melodies. And they aren’t as witty as Pavement or as slick as almost anyone.
The occasional low fi sound does nothing for me. “Good Luck” has an interesting musical score, but again the lyrics do it no justice. “Kiss It All Goodbye” is like flat Pepsi, a reoccurring flavor on this album. Drink it dry, but you won’t like it.
