I’ve been down with the Flaming Lips since their first record. I’ve waited in anticipation for Yoshimi Vs. The Pink Robots. Yes they’re off the wall, but not many are as good as them.
Now Here This:
“Fight Test” – They are still a mystery, yet lovely as ever.
“Yoshimi Vs. The Pink Robots” and “Morning Of The Magicians” – Bizarre, but undeniable.
“Do You Realize” – Again they bring the best of their melodies and a track that really makes you think. If you don’t get it I’m sorry.
“Ego Trippin’” – Dipping in the new and the old. Still the melodies shine like gold.
Listen Once:
“One More Robot”
“Hypnotist” – Doesn’t really go anywhere.
Don’t Listen At All:
You’ve got to listen straight through.
The Flaming Lips aren’t everyone’s cup of tea. I happen to enjoy their off the wall lyrics combined with absolutely gorgeous melodies. If you like your music to be something different then pick up Yoshimi Vs. The Pink Robots.
