John Forte – I, John

John Forte
Artist: John Forte
Title: I, John
Label: Transparent Music
Rating: 8/10

John Forte. Who? Well you might not know the name, but he was a former member of the Fugees. Jailed after a cocaine conviction Forte is eager to show you his worth.

Great:
“What A Difference” – Features Dinah Washington but its Forte’s in an absolute sickly smooth style that dominates the track. He is so smooth that you might find yourself slipping and sliding around your room with the ease of one half your age.
“Harmonize” – Still he is pulling it down sweetly to my ear.
“What You’re Used To” – Tenderly flow that is easy to listen to time and again.
“All The Pretty People” – Good, very good.
“Been There, Done That” – Features Carly Simon but again Forte dominates. The song is the biggest in terms of effort and pomposity.
“Lady” – My favorite track on this record. The slow vibe works well enough to get dozens of listens.

I, John has nothing but good to speak of. John Forte may not be a household name as a solo artist but he should. Will this album put him on ever tongue? Doubtful. Would I like to see it happen? Of Course.
