Track #
1. Sundown Borrows from a few artists, but most notable is the chorus of Gordon Lightfoot’s “Sundown”. The vibe is fresh and light, with equal parts Beck, Fresh Prince, and Everlast. It’s airy and wears like a comfortable t-shirt. 7.5/10
2. Slow As tasty as an icy pop in the summer. Goes down smooth. 7/10
3. Red Wagon Mix in a little guitar, horns, and a cute little melody and you have all the ingredients for a song that sounds old school, like a ’60’s classic pop love song. 5.5/10
4. Picture Of You Nice. Reminds me of the previous track. 5/10
5. Forty Five Beatle-ish. Musically borrows a little too much from “Norwegian Wood”. I’m glad it eventually moves away from sounding like the Beatles and gets its own flavor. 6.5/10
6. Bush A rap flick that’s a tale about a hot girl from around the way. 7/10
7. Peaches Same theme as “Bush” but more laid back and lighter. 7.5/10
8. Dive Okay. 5/10
9. Love Hook This twisted track sounds like Fatboy Slim going crazy. 7/10
10. Stockboy A new flavor that adds to the eccentricity of this album. This track proves you never know what you’re going to get from Elwood. 7.5/10
The thing about Elwood you’ll either love or hate is that it doesn’t stick to one track and just roll on. Elwood picks up flavor from many different sources and adds his own touch of honey. I loved that the album was different, track to track. I think this has something for everyone.
