CORPORATE LINE: Most Wanted comes clean with three new songs (“Wake Up,” “Beat of My Heart,” “Break My Heart”) produced by the Dead Executives — OK, the secret’s out, it’s the Madden brothers — but if those tracks and a few remixes aren’t enough to tide you over, a “signature collector’s edition” has four additional cuts (an acoustic “Who’s That Girl”; an alternate “Jericho”; a dance remix of “Party Up”; and another new song, “Supergirl”), four “autographed” photo cards, a different album cover and a wristband.
THE GREAT:
“Our Lips Are Sealed” – Addicting.
THE AVERAGE:
“Come Clean” – Whether you believe this is a great song or not means nothing—this dance version is irritating at best.
“Wake Up” – Barely edible pop fluff. Are we supposed to feel sorry for Duff while she sings about traveling the world?
“The Getaway” – Ho-hum.
“Rock This World (Remix 2005) – Not a bad song but do we need a remix? The remix itself is good and yet it doesn’t qualify spending the money to buy a song fans already own.
THE BAD:
“Beat of my Heart” – A dance track that doesn’t make you want to dance or sing-along.
“Mr. James Dean” – Awful.
FRANKLY: Most Wanted is nothing more than a repackaging of the ‘most wanted’ Hilary Duff songs. What it is really is a way to make more money for Duff and her record label.
