DJ Micro is one of electronica’s true superstar DJs. His skills as a DJ, producer, remixer and artist have continued to build his reputation as one of the most exciting talents around. This reputation has been solidified by his appearance on the cover of the Winter Music Conference edition DJ Times Magazine (March, 1999). This specific spot is reserved for the DJ/Producer who best represents DJ culture with the utmost integrity and quality.
Micro’s credentials as a dance music phenomenon are undeniable. A veteran of the East coast rave scene, he helped give the sound of the New York underground global recognition by DJing alongside such East coast luminaries like Frankie Bones, Adam X, Scott Henry, James Christian and DJ Onionz. He made the transition to artist with partner Vicious Vic, and formed the duo Progression. They received international attention following their remixes and original work, most notably with the massive single “Reach Further.” In the past, Micro’s talents as a remixer have been requested by Masters At Work and Joe T. Vanelli, as well as others. This year alone, DJs and artists like Cirrus, Omar Santana and Atomic Babies have enlisted his skills for future projects. As a producer, Micro has been commissioned by world renowned labels, such as the UK’s Open label- an offshoot of the Ministry of Sound, Strictly Rhythm, Nervous/Sorted, Black Sunshine and Adrenaline. Look out for Micro’s collaboration with Omar Santana on Santana’s full-length artist project due out on Moonshine later this year. To add to his already multi-faceted persona, Micro also helped form Caffeine-New York’s most prolific underground label, which has also spawned a club and tour of the same name. Having headlined last year’s Caffeine tour, he will partake in this year’s tour package. This summer Micro will also be touring with two staples of the electronic circuit: Moonshine Overamerica 99 and Zen Fest.
Micro’s first mix CD for Moonshine, “Micro-Tech Mix” was celebrated for its high energy combination of hard-edged trance and breakbeat masterfully mixed. “Micro-Tech Mix Version 2.0” has upgraded the formula and made it even more powerful. “Version 2.0” sees Micro elevating his style with chunkier breaks that resonate at an even higher energy level, as he mixes one anthem into the next, utilizing vocals, acid breaks and progressive trance to maximum effect. Micro’s twelve or so years DJing experience shine here as he creates a mix with tantalizing builds that climax with hard-hitting breaks and pounding basslines, bringing you a taste of the magic he creates with his live sets.
