Celine Dion is making her way back to the mic after playing mommy for a while and saying she was retired. The question is whether A New Day Has Come can put Dion back on top.
There isn’t much unexpected here. There are the grandiose tracks like “Sorry For Love” and big ballads like “I Surrender” and “Goodbye’s (The Saddest Word)” are ready to order for the masses. A few surprises were the covers, especially Etta James’ “At Last”.
There are some duds like the Cher-esque “Rain, Tax (It’s Inevitable)”. Dion has chops but not in this arena. However Dion props up that poor showing with other huge monster tracks like “When The Wrong One Loves You Right” and “I’m Alive”.
Honestly even without being a fan of Dion you have to admit she sounds refreshed. There is something endearing about A New Day Has Come and it shouldn’t take long before Dion is back on top of her game.
