CORPORATE LINE: In 2002 an aspiring young singer exploded on the charts with a harmonious, innovative debut album entitled All I Have. Girlish, fierce, sexy and sweet, All I Have spawned the smash hit, “Why Don’t We Fall In Love” (produced by a then-under-the-radar Rich Harrison), and announced the arrival of Amerie, a 22-year-old native of Washington, DC, as a chief practitioner of the new breed of hip-hop/soul music.
Three years later, with one gold album, two major tours, and a leading role (as “Mia”) in a major motion picture (Forest Whitaker’s “First Daughter”) to her credit, singer/songwriter/actress Amerie is back, hotter and bolder than ever. Working once again with musical partner Harrison–as well as beat makers Dre and Vidal, Lil’ Jon, Bryce Wilson, The Buchanans, Bink!, Red Spyda, and solo stars Carl Thomas, Nas, and Eve–Amerie has returned with a collection The New York Times has heralded as “…one of the year’s most anticipated R&B albums. Touch boasts songs that come straight from Amerie’s heart and soul.”
THE GREAT:
“1 Thing” – Amerie’s voice during the chorus sucks you in and never lets you go.
“Rolling Down My Face” – Sexy beat that underlines a song we can all relate to.
THE AVERAGE:
“Touch” – An interesting and sexy song that is obviously made for radio; “All I Need” isn’t much different.
“Like It Used To Be” – Lovely song that isn’t a world beater.
THE BAD:
“Falling” – Strictly filler.
FRANKLY: Amerie’s previous release was much deeper than Touch. Touch has some radio singles and hit potential however there are many tracks are filler.
