Survivor isn’t the title I’d expect since Destiny’s Child are already on top of the world and it looks like they are there to stay with their latest release.
Survivor opens with two huge tracks that I’m sure everyone has already heard: “Independent Women” (Charlie’s Angels soundtrack) and “Survivor”. “Survivor” is just one giant hook that has hit written all over it. It’s music for the masses and I know it’ll be eaten like candy.
Destiny’s Child are by no means one trick ponies. “Fancy” is hooky even if it sounds bitter. “Apple Pie A La Mode” is a track for all the guys who get the eye of a girl. Don’t think Destiny’s Child gets by without a few ballads. The most striking is “Brown Eyes”.
My favorite track was the clap track and perfectly excitable “Happy Face”. And don’t you dare miss the magic of “Gospel Medley” done a cappella. Destiny’s Child has been known more for their songs than their true gifts: their voices. Together, these three are heaven.
