This is only one of the times I’ve had to re-listen to this mess of a Christmas album Destiny’s Child has brought us this season.

First off, most of the new songs are written by, with the help of others, Beyonce Knowles. I hate to say it, but these songs are terrible. “8 Days Of Christmas” adds that her darling gave her a belly ring? Give me a break. “Winter Paradise” tries so hard to be good but you get the feeling everything sung here couldn’t be farther from any truths Knowles ever knew.

One of the traditional songs I expected a lot from was “Silent Night”. I thought perhaps the girls would kick in a beautiful rendition with wonderful harmonies, but instead they give a rushed up, uninspired version. Worst of all was “Little Drummer Boy”, nothing but bad.

“Do You Hear What I Hear” is one of the rare occasions where DC almost get it right. “White Christmas” is fine with the first opening stanza and then they have to go and screw it up.

Every beat is too beefed up to be a serious Christmas song. Who kicks an 808 during a Christmas medley? It’s ridiculous and trite. This album will be forgotten before Christmas even comes along.
