Deckard is a rock band that once called Glasgow, Scotland home. Boy, I would have never guessed that in a million years by listening to the album. But just as the Rolling Stones sounded Americanized, so does Deckard. Recently Deckard received a little buzz from the Friends Soundtrack and their single “What Reason”. The song is a typical rock song and not a good measure of this band’s talents.
It seems that Deckard found a good pace on “Remain This Way”. They have an early Radiohead feel mixed in with Queen at any given point in their career. “Still” has a nice aesthetic quality to it. It doesn’t throb in your ear, but doesn’t sit back and let you ignore it either. Love lost, denied, and then left scrambled, is the maze that is “Christine II”.
Stereodreamscene ends with a somber piano heart-tugger, “Bear”. I like Deckard. They aren’t going to blow your mind, but you won’t find that you’re selling this cd to the local pawnshop any time soon.
