Corporate Line: Grabbing romantic failure by the privates while declaring the joys of adolescent indulgence, The Art Of Losing is a rock and roll blitzkrieg.
The Good:
“The Art Of Losing” – Cool intro and decent chorus. The wall of sound is almost impossible to get through.
The Marginal:
“Rise” – It sounds like American Hi-Fi tries to give us what they think we want, not what they think is good.
“The Breakup Song” and “Beautiful Disaster” – Again the wall of sound is there attempting to make up for everything that is lacking with the lyrics.
“Save Me” – Slow verse fast chorus. Sound familiar? I thought the 90’s were over.
The Bad:
“Nothing Left To Lose” – Huh? Kicking like Jackie Chan? That is perhaps the lamest thing I’ve heard in a song in years.
Frankly: Corporate punk rock, but not at its best.
