Angels & Airwaves on tour with Say Anything

Say Anything
Los Angeles rock band Say Anything will be hitting the road with Angels & Airwaves for a 39-city U.S. tour which kicks off April 5th in San Francisco and makes stops in Chicago, Los Angeles, Boston and more! (Full tour itinerary below) Before joining Angels & Airwaves on tour, Say Anything — which is front man Max Bemis, drummer Coby Linder, bassist Alex Kent, guitarists Jake Turner and Jeff Turner, and keyboardist Parker Case – will take the stage in Anaheim, CA for the Hoodwink and Bamboozle Festivals March 26th & March 27th, respectively.

Comment’s Max Bemis of Say Anything: “It’s our great pleasure to be invited to play live with Angels & Airwaves. We’re longtime fans the band and Sir Tom in general, and this collaboration is something that we’ve been looking forward to for a long time.”

“Do Better,” the new single from Say Anything’s self-titled album impacts radio this spring.

Released November 2009, Time Out New York declared Say Anything’s self-titled sophomore album “uncommonly innovative,” while Spin described it as “clever…earnest…lyrical jujitsu,” and Popmatters.com raved: “Bemis has crafted one of his strongest musical statements yet… they’re far and away the most important…emo act in the world.” Rob Harvilla of the Village Voice wrote of their sold-out New York show: “I love this band and feel ridiculous about it. They’re still capable of ludicrous, shameless, mega-emo transcendence: See righteous power ballad “Eloise,” off their just-released self-titled third album…”

The 12-song collection was produced by veteran producer/mixer/engineer Neal Avron, who has also worked with Weezer, The Wallflowers, Fall Out Boy, and Everclear, among many others. Frontman Max Bemis says of the album, “the songs on this record were inspired by an amazing adventure I had actually becoming a worthwhile person again,” he says. “I had to let go of my self-loathing and general sense of self-imposed alienation, which led me through a journey of self-discovery, at the end of which I fell in love and got married.”

Say Anything is the first studio album from the band since its critically acclaimed 2007 double-disc In Defense of the Genre, which Entertainment Weekly praised as an “ambitious artistic statement” and Alternative Press called “an opus that musicians more than twice Bemis’ age could only hope to create.” Exploding onto the music scene, Say Anything released their 2004 Doghouse Records debut …Is A Real Boy, which told the ultimate coming-of-age story in a swirling storm of sex, drugs, angst, and gut-wrenchingly honest rock & roll. Bemis’ unraveling after the album’s release is, by now, well-known among fans of the band, who stuck with Say Anything through Bemis’ various health problems, including a long-struggle with bi-polar disorder. In 2005, Say Anything signed with RCA Music Group, which re-released …Is A Real Boy with a bonus CD entitled …Was A Real Boy in 2006, following Bemis’ successful rehabilitation. Over the years, Say Anything has toured with such artists as My Chemical Romance, Manchester Orchestra, Dashboard Confessional, Saves the Day, mewithoutyou, Ben Lee, and appeared on the Warped Tour in summer 2008.
