A3 is another British band with an American fascination. They also seem to have a religious fetish and maybe a taste for U2.
I noticed quickly that the music has better melodies than what they’re singing. It’s too bad. It seems A3 could produce music as good as that of U2, but when you have lyrics that aren’t in step, the songs sound weak. The intros to “Too Sick To Pray” and “Mansion On The Hill” have amazing beginnings, but then the vocals come in and ruin the party.
A3 works out a cover of the Eagles’ “Hotel California”. Larry Love’s vocals aren’t anything exceptional. However, the programming synth is kind of hot. “The Thrills Have Gone” is an attempt at Johnny Cash. It takes a lot more than a deep voice to follow that act. Most of this album just feels like a group trying to cover everyone else’s music. It doesn’t work and it’s disappointing.
