Before Blink 182 and all those powder-puff punk bands out there, we had NOFX. The group has stayed away from major labels and the exposure that would have surely found them at a larger level, instead opting to make music their way.
Once again they have released an album that will satisfy punk fans, but won’t find its way on the teenybopper play lists. Pump Up The Valuum is nitro on tap. “What’s The Matter With Parents Today?” is music made the way it’s supposed to be, pissed but with a comedic edge. And how about a track kicking the record industry in the ass? “Dinosaurs Will Die” does just that with a view that isn’t new but is still a lot of fun.
NOFX are one of the few bands that are still paying homage to punk as it was meant to be played. They still have good melodies, but they don’t make it a point to kiss the world on the ass and give them hooky candy.
