The K.G.B. – The K.G.B.

The KGB has a unique singer but not necessarily a unique sound.

“Fortune And Fame” come off pretty soft, but are still enjoyable. And although I could really get into “Captain Max”, it’s the ska horns that weaken the effect. “I’m A Player” is perhaps the album’s biggest surprise as it leans a lot toward the Pharcyde. By now the KGB start to become musical chameleons as each song begins to sound like a different group. “Long Shot” has a Stray Cats feel. “In Case Of A Bad Trip” is the album’s best track, but it’s too much like Pink Floyd. “It’s Your World Babe” finds them trying to combine everything and it just doesn’t work.

The KGB need to find themselves. They do have some potential, but they can’t decide who they really are.
