Kid Rock brings three new tracks and a handful of reworked and remixed tracks from The Polyfuze Method (1993) and Early Mornin’ Stoned Pimp (1996).
The first new release is “American Bad Ass”. The track is mostly about giving props to friends, idols, and of course himself. “Prodigal Son” is Kid Rock at his best as he mixes together Lynyrd Skynyrd riffs with his own brand of vocals. “Early Mornin’ Stoned Pimp” starts to make you wonder if Beck is as much an innovator as everyone thinks. It seems Kid Rock had a leg up on him years ago.
“Dark & Grey” is pretty lame, but you can see where hits like “Cowboy” came from. “Abortion” is a new track mixed in between others, some over six years old. The quality between the tracks is apparent and it has nothing to do with fidelity. Kid Rock’s voice and melodies are so much tighter than even tracks from Devil Without A Cause. Also featured are the stinky “Ya’ Keep On” and the flimsily new “Fuck That”.
Kid Rock is money. This is nothing but a shameless way for him to capitalize on his current success. Though it starts off strong, it ends up being mostly average.
