Killing Heidi is an Australia-based pop rock band that works hooks until they are ready to scream.
“Mascara” starts slow, but the bridge building up to a climatic chorus changes all of that. “Weir” is a bit slower, sassier until once again the chorus rockets into orbit. “Superman/Supergirl” crunches from go as a fit of punk mixed with trip-hop madness mixed quietly in the background until it blasts off into the chorus.
Bang. Boom. This isn’t all you get with “Leave Me Alone”. The sitar mixes so unknowingly behind the overcharged riffs and vocals. “Class Celebrities” is as pulsating as No Doubt has ever been with its power pop punk.
Killing Heidi does it all, whether pronounced or not. They mix up more flavors than Heinz 57. It keeps it interesting without detracting from the core of what Killing Heidi really seems to be, and that is a rock band. And just to show you they’re not all about destruction, they give us “Black Sheep”. It’s an offering for love and the ability come down from the experience.
