King Crimson – Construktion of Light

King Crimson
Artist: King Crimson
Title: Construktion of Light
Label: Virgin
Rating: 3/10

King Crimson has been around for a hell of a long time. People swear that these guys were the tops back in the ’70’s, and while I’ll admit that they were pretty damn good, that was then.

King Crimson has made a whole bunch of lineup changes, so who knows what the true lineup is anymore. Listening to their latest album, Construkction Of Light, I wonder what in the hell this crap is. It’s beginning to sound more like Spinal Tap on acid. The twangy guitar to dream sequence is just annoying. And the jam sessions go on forever; I’ve had days that were shorter. All in all, the instrumentation isn’t really all that bad, but the lyrics are pathetic.

I’m sure somewhere there is some yippy, yuppy, or ex-hippy who is happy to see a new King Crimson release. Perhaps they were legends in their day, but this album is for the birds. That is, if they’ll take it.
