Chris Isaak seems to have the career that no one, yet everyone wants. One that came from no where to star and then back to no where. Where does his eighth album Always Got Tonight stand?
Ahhhh:
“Always Got Tonight” – it isn’t the best Isaak has given us, but it breaks up the teary-eyed monotony.
“I See You Everywhere” – even this downer can be enjoyed.
“Somebody To Love” and “Nothing To Say” – a surprisingly nice track.
Safe songs:
“Let Me Down Easy” – perfect example of a song that won’t invoke anything but safety in love, which as we know is nothing but insane.
“Courthouse” – brings along another down love song.
Hmmm:
“Worked It Out Wrong” – simply rhyming words together without a soul doesn’t make for a good song.
“Notice The Ring” and “American Boy” – pretentious and too fashionable and out of touch with Isaak’s style.
Always Got Tonight occasionally seems too easy.
