The material on Bobby Gaylor’s debut album FUZZATONIC SCREAM is as unconventional as the artist himself. Drawing equally from his musical background, stand-up comedy days, and the world of traditional story-telling, Gaylor brings a sharp and probing mind to a wide variety of reality inspired oral essays, each underscored by a dynamic musical bed.

“Suicide,” the album’s first single, has already spurred a flurry of phone requests and listener reaction at dozens of stations across the country – from California and Ohio to New Jersey and Massachusetts. In some cases, stations have found themselves flooded with faxes, phone calls, and e-mails based on even a single spin. The impact of the track – an unexpected and honest testament to life’s inherent magic – resulted in a remarkable 3,000 listener phone calls to K-Rock in New York City in the wake of a mere three spins.

In his clever and to-the-point manner, Gaylor similarly brings his distinctive artistry to such tracks as “Business End of A Gun,” in which he details his experience as the victim of an armed robbery; “Out The Window,” a tale of his youthful confrontation with monotony and fear; and the self-explanatory “Masturbation.” Enhancing each of these bittersweet true-life dramas are the album’s specially composed mini-scores, the collective effort of Gaylor along with recording veterans Marc Bonilla and Michael Scott. Whether operating within the realms of rock, electronic, or ambient, the music sets the tone for the array of moods and meanings found within the album.
