The Offspring

The Offspring, one of rock’s most exciting and enduring bands, have announced they will hit the road this May for their first full North American tour in nearly 4 years. The announcement came via the band’s just unveiled “S*** Is F***ed Up” tour widget featuring a mock “presidential address” by Dexter Holland (vocals, guitar). Dexter along with Noodles (guitar), Greg K (bass) and Pete Parada (drums) will kick things off May 15 in Nashville, TN. The tour will feature different openers on each leg and will be highlighted by a hometown show June 5 at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine, CA.

Following the success of the single “Hammerhead” and its follow-up “You’re Gonna Go Far, Kid,” The Offspring remain a favorite on the airwaves with “Kristy, Are You Doing Okay?,” the band’s third radio hit from their latest Columbia Records release Rise And Fall, Rage And Grace.

Produced by the legendary Bob Rock [Metallica, The Cult], the new album has forged new territory while staying true to the Offspring’s vision. Every song on their eighth studio release delivers, lengthening the list of accomplishments from a band that has performed over 1000 shows and has sold more than 34 million albums worldwide. Fifteen years after its release, their 1994 release Smash remains the highest-selling album of all time on an independent label.

Papa Roach releases Metamorphosis today and world tour dates

Spending over 10 years as an alternative rock force, Papa Roach have returned in 2009 revitalized and ready to bring their infectious anthems to scores of fans around the world. Boasting a wealth of growth and bravado, their fifth studio album, “Metamorphosis,” is out today, March 24th via DGC/Interscope Records. Remaining true to their LA roots, Metamorphosis was written at the legendary Paramour Mansion and recorded at NRG Recording Studios. The album was co-produced by Jay Baumgardener (311, Evanescence, Incubus) and the band, with James Michael (Motley Crue, Sixx:A.M.) picking up additional co-production credits on five of the tracks. Metamorphosis secures the bands’ legacy in modern rock, showcasing their songwriting growth and maturity over the last decade.

The first single from “Metamorphosis,” “Lifeline” hit radio in January and was the most added song at Rock radio in its first week. Only 8 weeks in, the track has hit #1 at Active Rock and exhibits serious staying power. The band performed the song on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on March 6th. “Lifeline” is one of the fastest growing songs at active, alternative and mainstream rock and is available online at iTunes, various digital outlets and at Hot Topic stores on an exclusive two-song CD single. Papa Roach recently shot the official video for the song with director Chris Sims (Queens of the Stone Age, Jimmy Eat World), which was immediately premiered on imeem.com, and added at MTV2, MTVu, Fuse, and Music Choice. Papa Roach will be hitting the road with Nickleback for a full US tour in July, as well as trekking through Europe in June for their first headlining tour in over 2 years.

Late of the Pier announce U.S. tour dates

Eclectic modern-rock Nottingham, England quartet LATE OF THE PIER is preparing a month of U.S. tour dates that will span such major springtime festival events as Austin, TX’s South By Southwest and south Florida’s Winter Music Conference, and will also include a series of headline gigs and an appearance on the closing day of Indio, CA’s Coachella Festival (full schedule below).

Praised at its U.K. release last year for its “spirit of invention, its surfeit of ideas and its ear for a good tune” (The Guardian), LATE OF THE PIER’s ambitious and genre-confounding album ‘FANTASY BLACK CHANNEL’ was released January 13th 2009 on Astralwerks in a special U.S. edition with two U.S.-only bonus tracks. The American response was instant, and unanimous: “The quartet’s fervent debut, produced by DJ Erol Alkan, offers a fabulous simulation of 80’s new wave, with burping, sputtering synths and sleazy, Bowie-inspired crooning from frontman Sam Eastgate,” said Spin. Blender was no less of a convert, saying: “(Late of the Pier) have made one of the most vital EPs of the year.” Teen Vogue, Billboard, and a host of local papers agreed, praising the band’s “loud, feverish thrills” (Marie Claire) and “the most genius, gonzo anthems you’ll have heard come the New Year” (Filter).

Now, anticipation of the band’s arrival in America is building fast, with LATE OF THE PIER’s MySpace.com webpage nearing a total of 4 million audio streams, with individual album tracks well in the mid-six-figure range. “Late of the Pier…can create arena-electro as good as the 80’s antecedents that came before them,” raved Alternative Press.

“They reference prog, heavy metal, Roxy Music, Blur, Aphex Twin and Gary Numan – often all in the same song,” The Guardian continued. “Every time you play this album, you’ll find a new favourite song, riff or wayward moment.” The Observer called the album a “tour de force comprising glam techno and rave…It’s hard to see how (Alkan) or (the group) could spin a more definitive statement.”

Funeral Party announce tour w/…Trail Of Dead with debut album out April 21st

Funeral Party will be hitting the road with …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead next month as direct support on their full US tour. See confirmed dates below. The band is also confirmed for SXSW 2009. Funeral Party’s debut album is set for release on April 21st and music will be available in the near future. In the meantime, their digital only The Bootleg EP is out now at all digital retailers featuring their blogger approved jam “Car Wars.”

Funeral Party just completed their first full US tour as direct support for Yelle and are currently putting the finishing touches on their debut album at The Mars Volta’s studio in Los Angeles which will be released April 21st.
