The longtime friends and music innovators inspired each other to new heights with their collaboration on WATCH THE THRONE recorded in person at various locations around the world. Over a year in the making and a truly global affair, the duo recorded in London and Bath in the UK, Abu Dhabi, Sydney, Paris, and New York City. Though shrouded in secrecy, the album has already been heralded a ‘masterpiece’ by those who have heard it, and features production from The RZA, The Neptunes and Kanye’s longtime collaborator Mike Dean. The short list of featured vocals includes Frank Ocean, Beyoncé, Curtis Mayfield and Mr. Hudson. The lead track, “OTIS,” which premiered over New York radio waves on Wednesday, July 20th night during HOT 97’s FunkMaster Flex show, brilliantly weaves Otis Redding’s “Try A Little Tenderness.”

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds UK debut single will be “The Death of You and Me”, released on August 21st in the UK (The first U.S. single will be announced shortly). Already the subject of global media speculation since a rogue tweet from an L.A. video shoot sparked headlines across the world, “The Death Of You And Me” marks songwriter Noel Gallagher’s first release in almost three years.

The Mike Bruce-directed video for ‘The Death Of You And Me’ was filmed in the desert outside Los Angeles in May 2011 while Noel was putting the finishing touches to the debut album from Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.

The single precedes the highly anticipated album “Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds” which will be released November 8th in the U.S. Co-produced by Noel and David Sardy, the album was recorded in London and Los Angeles and will feature 10 brand new Noel Gallagher songs.

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will tour later this year following the release of their eponymous album.

“It’s incredibly humbling and exciting to be acknowledged, especially for a very controversial clip like ‘Hurricane,’ that was banned from a lot of networks to start with. It’s great to have it come full-circle and be recognized in this way,” explained frontman Jared Leto to MTV News upon hearing about the nominations.

Thirty Seconds To Mars has also been nominated for a 2011 Teen Choice Award in the Choice Music: Rock Group category. The Teen Choice Awards will be given out on August 7th in Los Angeles. Fans can vote at www.teenchoiceawards.com.

The band will release a digital EP with 4 tracks from their recent MTV Unplugged performance prior to the VMA’s on August 23rd. The set will include “Hurricane,” “Kings & Queens,” “Night Of The Hunter” and their inspiring rendition of the U2 classic “Where The Streets Have No Name.” Unplugged: Thirty Seconds To Mars premiered July 20th across MTV Music Group’s multiple platforms and screens. “Hurricane” unplugged is now in music video rotation on MTV’s AMTV, MTV2’s AMTV2, mtvU and MTV Hits. A 30-minute special will debut on Palladia, MTV Networks’ high-definition music channel on Friday, July 29th at 9pm with an encore at midnight.

Thirty Seconds To Mars will finish the current European, Russian and South East Asian leg of the Closer To The Edge world tour on August 27th and will fly directly to Los Angeles to attend the VMA’s. The group will play 3 U.S. shows on Sep 2nd in Highland, CA, Sep. 3rd in Las Vegas, NV and Sep. 4th in Lake Tahoe, NV before heading to Japan later in the month. The trio will wrap the world tour in November after shows in Latvia, Lithuania and a 10-date stint through France. Coming off a powerful headline performance this past weekend (Saturday, July 23) at the ”Gathering of the Vibes” festival in Bridgeport, CT, JANE’S ADDICTION tonight (Monday July 25) play an exclusive, private show at Terminal 5 in New York City, in association with YouTube and LG. Not only will the concert be streamed live on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/comealive), but it will also be the first 3D user-generated concert event. Attendees–including more than 200 lucky ticket holders selected by LG and JANE’S ADDICTION–will be the first to be able to film the show on brand new LG Thrill 4G Devices, then these films will be combined into one special 3D 60-minute documentary film which will be premiered on the LG Thrill 3D YouTube channel on August 4.

Singer/songwriter Edwin McCain will release an album of vintage R&B and classic southern soul songs called “Nobody’s Fault But Mine.” The album is due out June 24th on Saguaro Road Records.

“For me it was an absolute blast, completely liberating to be playing, singing and interpreting other peoples’ songs just purely for the joy of doing it,” McCain explains. “It was amazing to return to that era and mindset and to really understand the beauty and absolute brilliance of the music.”

All the songs were handpicked for the album, with McCain listening to hundreds of tracks before selecting ones that he was especially drawn to. “I wanted people to listen to this album in their car, and no matter what they’re driving, feel like they’re in a 1966 Cadillac convertible heading down a two lane road between Greenville and Augusta with the AM radio on, the top down and the wind blowing through their hair.”

“Nobody’s Fault But Mine” was recorded in the spirit of a live album, an homage to the way the songs were originally performed with little studio overdubbing, retakes and other technological patchwork. “We just kind of kept in that spirit of ‘let’s do it live,’” explains Edwin, “to make it vibrant, just like a live record, not go back and fix stuff and overthink it – it actually adds to the charm.”
