The ‘Illusion’ releases found the band charting new territory in the video arena with the theatrical trilogy, “November Rain,” “Don’t Cry” and “Estranged.” The band’s most recent release, Chinese Democracy (Black Frog/Geffen Records), released in November 2008 and debuted #1 on the charts in thirteen countries, going platinum in 15 countries!
Guns N Roses will be honoured along with The Faces/The Small Faces, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Beastie Boys and will be inducted at a ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio, on April 14, 2012 and Slash has said that he is not keen to revisit all the previous tensions between him and former frontman Axl Rose.

Slash told Esquire that he was ready to end the feud with Axl Rose and that the split between the two of them originally happened very quietly.

He said: “The split between Axl and I was a quiet one. But because there was so much attention on the break-up – and are we going to get back together – it got built up into this monster that led to a kind of animosity that wasn’t the focus for me. Neither one of us wants to be down each other’s throats for no reason. At this point, I’m trying to put it to rest.”

He also said that he remains proud of the band’s achievements and said that it remains “as sincere as any rock ‘n’ roll that I’ve ever heard”.

He said: “When I see footage of Guns N’ Roses, I see that fucking hunger and attitude. You could not fuck with those five guys. It was just raw. It was this lean, hungry thing on its way up. It was as sincere as any rock ‘n’ roll that I’ve ever heard, and I’m proud of that.”

Corporate line:
Like the hard-rock equivalent of Brian Wilson’s “Smile,” Guns N’ Roses’ “Chinese Democracy” was one of the greatest records that never was–a project more fable than fact, more speculation than actualization. Created over 15 years with countless producers and musicians, the album often seemed as if it would remain forever mired in the swamps of Axl Rose’s legendarily unpredictable personality. When the disc finally did appear, the musical landscape had changed so significantly that many wondered if Rose’s fans even still cared. What the faithful got for their undying loyalty may not have been classic GnR, but it was an unquestionably powerful slice of enigmatic, genre-pushing hard rock which retained some the group’s famously rebellious attitude. Sonically, “Chinese Democracy” benefited from its long gestation period by incorporating bits of many post-”Spaghetti Incident” sub-genres, including nu-metal, electronica, new garage rock, and post-grunge. Luckily, even after all his bizarre, Michael Jackson-like personal travails, Rose lost little of his lyrical bite, shooting back at disbelievers with the fervor of a much younger and hungrier artist, leaving admirers wondering if perhaps the best was still yet to come.

The good:
“If The World” – Over a beat that sounds like it was made for Jamiriquai, Axl gets the most out of every note. This easily could sit on “Use Your Illusion” and is my favorite track on the album and gets constant plays in my iPod.

“Chinese Democracy” – Burn, baby burn from the opening licks to Axl Rose’s great vocals.

“Shackler’s Revenge” – Rose mixes up his vocals and is completely relentless. The chorus as epic as any ’80s rock hit.

“Better” – Buckcherry better be worried because the king is back and they could only wish to hold a candle to King Rose.

“Street Of Dreams” – Axl can still hit notes that not even your little sister dare take on. And even in this ballad it sounds solid. Rose knows what he is and doesn’t stray from it.

“Scraped” – Hard rock and totally bad ass. This is what GNR is made of.

“I.R.S.” – Solid rocker. Rose shows he hasn’t lost his touch.

“Madagascar”- Big and bold like the frontman.

The rest:
“There Was A Time” – Not a bad song, it tries to be epic without having the right ingrediants–but it does have some poignent lyrics: “Broken glass and cigarettes/ Writing on the wall/It was a bargain for the summer/And I thought I had it all.”

“Catcher in the Rye” – This could have been left behind.

“Prostitute” – Rose has pulled out his best David Bowie impersonation.

Finally:
Guns N’ Roses, or should we say Axl Rose, sounds as good as ever. It defies logic. “Chinese Democracy” took 13 years and there was no way this was going to be good. How did it happen? Who cares. It makes me want to run right to iTunes and buy up the old albums because I forgot just how great GNR were. Come back of the decade? I’d say so.

Chinese Democracy has finally arrived. One of the most highly anticipated albums in rock history, the long-awaited Chinese Democracy marks the first album of new material from Guns N’ Roses since 1991′s simultaneous release of Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II. With a frenzied energy, Guns N’ Roses arrived on the music scene in the mid-’80s and rock was never the same. Now the enormously influential G N’ R is ready to rock once again.

Chinese Democracy (Black Frog/Geffen Records) will be available globally on November 23 on CD and vinyl (accompanied by a free digital download of the tracks), and as a separate digital album.

Produced by Axl Rose and Caram Costanzo, Chinese Democracy includes 14 tracks. The title track and first single from the album, ‘Chinese Democracy’, will be released to radio at 5:00 am eastern time today. Two of the recordings have been recently released–’Shackler’s Revenge’ debuted September 14 in the ‘Rock Band 2′ videogame and ‘If The World’ debuted October 11 in the film Body Of Lies.

‘The release of Chinese Democracy marks a historic moment in rock ‘n’ roll,’ said Irving Azoff and Andy Gould, Guns N’ Roses’ co-managers, ‘and we’re launching with a monumental campaign that matches the groundbreaking sound of the album itself. Guns N’ Roses fans have every reason to celebrate, for this is only the beginning.’

‘Guns N’ Roses redefined the American rock band and became a global music icon,’ added Steve Berman, President, Sales and Marketing, Interscope Geffen A&M Records. ‘We’re incredibly excited that Chinese Democracy will be heard worldwide through Geffen Records and the Universal Music Group.”

Seventeen years ago, the two previous original albums from one of rock’s most intense and compelling bands, Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II, were issued simultaneously, a first for any contemporary artist. Debuting #2 and #1, respectively, they featured three gold hits with ‘November Rain’ (#3), ‘Don’t Cry’ (#10) and the previously released Top 30 ‘You Could Be Mine’ from the film Terminator II: Judgement Day, plus another Top 40 with ‘Live And Let Die.’ Each album went seven times platinum.

The band’s 1987 full-length debut Appetite For Destruction has sold more than 28 million copies worldwide (18 times platinum in the U.S.) and is among the biggest-selling albums in history. The #1 album notched three Top 10 hits–the gold anthem ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ and #1 ‘Sweet Child o’ Mine’ plus ‘Paradise City.’ 1988′s #2, five times platinum G N’ R Lies yielded the gold Top 5 ‘Patience.’ After the Use Your Illusion duo, 1994′s The Spaghetti Incident’ cover album reached #4 and platinum.

In 1999, a live album earned gold and in 2004 the band’s only Greatest Hits collection peaked at #3 and earned quadruple platinum. Overall, Guns N’ Roses has sold more than 90 million records worldwide.

One of the most highly anticipated albums in rock history, the long-awaited Chinese Democracy (Black Frog/Geffen Records) will be available globally on November 23 on CD and vinyl (accompanied by a free digital download of the tracks), and as a separate digital album.

Produced by Axl Rose and Caram Costanzo, Chinese Democracy includes 14 tracks. The title track and first single from the album, “Chinese Democracy”, was released to radio at 5:00AM eastern time today. Two of the recordings have been recently released–“Shackler’s Revenge” debuted September 14 in the “Rock Band 2” videogame and “If The World” debuted October 11 in the film Body Of Lies.

“The release of Chinese Democracy marks a historic moment in rock ‘n’ roll,” said Irving Azoff and Andy Gould, Guns N’ Roses’ co-managers, “and we’re launching with a monumental campaign that matches the groundbreaking sound of the album itself. Guns N’ Roses fans have every reason to celebrate, for this is only the beginning.”
