The tour will kick off early November with The Script opening for rocker David Cook through early December. A string of confirmed dates are listed below with remaining dates set to be announced shortly.

The Script are Dubliners Danny O’Donoghue (keys and vocals), Mark Sheehan (guitar) and Glen Power (drums). This extremely talented trio’s debut has already spawned numerous hit singles abroad, including the band’s first official U.S. single, “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved” which reached #1 in 5 countries and broke into the Top 20 at Adult Radio stateside with no signs of stopping. THE SCRIPT is currently 3x platinum in the UK, 8x platinum in Ireland, and is a story of both tragedy and triumph, struggle and survival – the epic journey of 3 Dublin boys from the wrong side of the tracks.

2008 proved to be an extremely successful year for The Script. With the release of their debut album in the UK landing them the #1 spot on the UK album chart, receiving The Best Irish Band Award at the World Music Awards, performing at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert, as well as selling out their first UK headlining tour in under 24 hours – The Script has taken America by storm. Since the U.S. release of THE SCRIPT, the band has performed on The Today Show, The View, Jimmy Kimmel to name a few, been hand-picked as VH1’s powerful “You Oughta Know” artist, and have seen their tracks featured in the CBS hit show The Ghost Whisperer as well as throughout the entire season of VH1’s Sober House. Most recently the band appeared on MTV’s The Hills. Their current single, “Breakeven” is at radio now and soaring up the charts. Up next for The Script are appearances on the new hit CW show, 90210 airing this evening, The Ellen Degeneres Show airing October 14 and The Late Show with David Letterman scheduled for November 17.

Reigning American Idol winner, David Cook, has announced plans for his first ever solo tour to promote his debut self-titled album, released in November 2008. This will be first time that Cook has been on the road since headlining the American Idol season 7 tour. Cook exclusively unveiled his tour dates on AOL Music’s PopEater.com on Friday, January 23rd.

David Cook

Cook entered the Billboard charts at #3 with David Cook (19 Recordings / RCA Records). The Rob Cavallo produced album also debuted as the #1 album on the digital album chart and is the best debut from an American Idol winner since 2006. The first single, “Light On,” dominated the AOL Top 40 radio chart with 8 (non consecutive) weeks at #1 and is currently Top 10 at Hot AC radio and still growing. In late September “Light On” premiered on AOL Music’s pop culture news site, PopEater.com, receiving over 1 million plays in less than week.

Rolling Stone Magazine deemed Cook “the most imaginative American Idol talent to date.”

“I’m more than excited to hop on the road and support this record. This tour represents both a new beginning and a return to form for me,” said Cook. “It’s our first full tour, and we’re all ready to pour whatever blood, sweat, and tears that we can muster into making this show, and every show from here on out, an experience. Part of that experience is bringing back this college tour idea. There’s something inherently nostalgic about playing college shows. So many amazing acts used to do it, so it’s nice to be able to bring that ideal back, in some small way. And besides, touring on a bus beats what we used to do, which was cram five guys into a 7 passenger van for one show, 13 hours away… ”

Cook’s first single, “The Time of My Life” recently went platinum, with over one million tracks sold. “The Time of My Life” is not only the biggest single debut but the highest selling coronation single in the show’s history. Cook is the 34th “American Idol” contestant to appear on a Billboard chart.

Cook kicked off 2009 by performing for troops during a USO tour. He visited seven different bases, singing songs off his self-titled album.

On February 12, Walt Disney World Resort will host the world premiere of their new blockbuster attraction, “The American Idol Experience” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. David Cook will perform live from the attraction on GOOD MORNING AMERICA (ABC) that morning, and will headline a special guest performance during the night’s event.

“The Declaration Tour – 2009” will kick off February 13, 2009 in Tallahassee, FL and will continue nationwide hitting various college campus and major venues.

The full schedule for David Cook’s tour is as follows:

American Idol winner David Cook’s self-titled debut album is produced by Grammy winning Rob Cavallo (Green Day, Kid Rock), David Cook is a quality album full with radio hits. Cook co-wrote 9 songs from his debut, along with songwriters like Chris Cornell, Brian Howes & Cathy Dennis. The 1st single “Light On” was co-written by one of rock music’s most influential innovators, Chris Cornell, lead singer and songwriter for Soundgarden and Audioslave, and acclaimed producer / songwriter Brian Howes, who has worked with superstar rock bands such as Hinder and Puddle of Mudd.

The good:
Got nothing for you.

The rest:
“Declaration” – Sadly this makes Cook sound like cookie-cutter rock from the ’80s. I cringe at the thought of David Cook doing Journey and yet we now know what that would sound like.

“Heroes” – Not even close.

“Light On” – Even though this song was written by the Chris Cornell it didn’t mean that David Cook had to try and sing it just like Cornell and yet that is exactly what happened.

“Mr. Sensitive” – Paint-by-the-numbers rock.

“I Did It for You” – Cook has never been duller.

Finally:
Where is the experimental David Cook that won American Idol? Cook can sing but he lost all his personality on this album. Perhaps they should have let him singing songs he wrote instead of trying to take on the personality of a dozen other writers. This album is completely lost on me.

American Idol winner David Cook today launched the “Light On” interactive lighter application for iPhone and iPod touch, giving fans a deluxe version of his first single, “Light On,” co-written by Chris Cornell and Brian Howe off his debut album. The “Light On” App is now available for download from Apple’s App Store on iPhone and iPod touch or at www.itunes.com/appstore/ and David Cook’s debut album will be released on 19 Recordings / RCA Records on November 18th on the iTunes Store (www.itunes.com). “Light On” debuted in the Top 10 on the Billboard Digital Songs charts and was the #1 most added song at Hot AC and is one of the fastest growing songs at the format.

Cook states “I am really stoked about this application. I think it gives a different dynamic to the single and it is much safer than practicing pyromania. Not to mention, you won’t burn your thumb!”

The interactive “Light On” App turns an iPhone or iPod touch into a “virtual” lighter while playing Cook’s single “Light On.” Using the iPhone’s unique technology, fans simply “flick” the iPhone or iPod touch and the flame goes out while the song fades out. The application also provides links to the iTunes Store to listen and buy Cook’s new hit single or pre-order his upcoming album. Additionally the application allows the user to send a message to a friend and links directly to DavidCookOfficial.com, where users can connect with each other.

“Mobile applications that connect artists with their fans in an entirely new way are game changing,” says Wade Beavers, CEO of DoApp Inc., the web and mobile innovation company SONY BMG worked with to create the application. “This fun application enables David Cook to connect with his fans and give them something more than digital downloads.”

Just one week after being named the winner of the seventh season of “American Idol,” 25-year-old David Cook rewrote chart history, with a record-breaking 14 debuts on Billboard’s Hot Digital Songs survey. He also had 11 songs jump onto the Hot 100, the highest number of new entries ever, and the second-highest amount of simultaneous hits since the Beatles in 1964. All that, and his single, “The Time of My Life,” instantly became the highest debuting title of 2008, entering the Hot 100 at No. 3.

When this most recent season of “American Idol” began, Cook wasn’t on anyone’s radar to win the whole thing – including his own. “I like that I ‘snuck up’ on people,” he says. “During those early shows, when there were 24 people, I knew I didn’t have to be one of the best, but I didn’t want to be one of the worst. So it was fun for me because there wasn’t a lot of pressure and I could find my own footing.”

Cook won fans with his unique renditions of songs like Lionel Richie’s “Hello,” Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” and the Beatles’ “Eleanor Rigby.” He explains, “When I began, I told vocal coach Debra Byrd I wanted the season to be like a set list, so people would feel like they were at one of my concerts.”

Cook’s musical journey began early. He grew up watching his father play guitar. But David’s first instrument of choice was the violin. “I tried that first because there was a girl in the school orchestra I thought was pretty.” When he was in seventh grade, his dad bought him a Fender Stratocaster. “I was bad at it because I never took a lesson. Gradually I got better.”
He was exposed to many different genres of music. “My parents had eclectic record collections. My mom liked Kenny Rogers and my dad was more into Boston, Kansas and Dire Straits. The first cassette tape I ever bought was by Kris Kross. I was into Boyz II Men for a while. When I was 13, someone played me the song ‘Closer’ by Nine Inch Nails and once I got past the audacity of the lyrics, I really enjoyed the song. So I backtracked through rock, which got me to where I am now.”

David formed a band in high school with a friend and appeared in three musicals: “West Side Story,” “Singin’ in the Rain” and “The Music Man.” He also loved sports and played baseball throughout high school. Ultimately his love for music brought his attention back to his band. David enrolled at Central Missouri State, changed the name of the band from Redeye to Axiom to Axium and had some local success.

As he was completing his studies, David had to choose between working as a graphic designer in Kansas City or moving to Tulsa to play rhythm guitar and sing backing vocals for a band called the Midwest Kings. “Of course, I moved to Tulsa,” he says. That’s where he lives today, although home is officially Blue Springs, Missouri. The Cook family relocated there after David was born in Houston on Dec. 20, 1982.

With his friends chipping in financially, David recorded “Analog Heart.” The album sold well regionally and won an URBY award from Urban Tulsa Weekly for Best Independent Album. David was in the early stages of recording a second album when his younger brother Andrew asked him to accompany him to Omaha and lend moral support while he tried out for “American Idol.” David was reluctant, but his brother and mother did their best to persuade him. He recalls, “At the last minute I decided to do it. Andrew and I were in the same group of four for the first audition and he didn’t make the cut. It was very awkward. I turned to him and said, ‘Is this something you want me to do? Because if you don’t, I won’t.’ And his response was, ‘If you don’t, I’ll beat your ass.’ So it’s entirely his and my mother’s fault that this happened to me, and I’m very grateful.”

We all know how the story went from there. Simon, Randy and Paula sent David to Hollywood, where he made it into the top 24. Then he was in the top 12, the top 10, the top five and the top two, all without ever being in the dreaded “bottom three.” Then, on May 21 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, Ryan Seacrest pronounced David Cook the winner of this season of “American Idol.”

It’s all come with lessons learned, according to Cook. “The whole process has given me a brand-new lease on life in that I am more sure of who I am now that ever before. I’ve learned that when I’m singing live on stage to embrace that moment and if doesn’t work, it’s OK, move on.”
