Coachella Performance Hailed As “One Of The Best Of The Fest” (Buzzbands.la) As Headline Shows Sell Out Multiple Nights In DC and Philadelphia, As Well As Boston, Atlanta, Austin, Salt Lake City and More

Coheed and Cambria’s brand new fifth studio album Year Of The Black Rainbow (Columbia) has entered the Billboard 200 at #5, selling 51,377 copies. Spurred by a series of sold-out pre-release dates and the burgeoning presence of first single “Here We Are Juggernaut,” the record’s first week sales mark a career high chart position for the band.

Additionally, Year Of The Black Rainbow’s elaborate deluxe edition, featuring a 352-page novel co-authored by Coheed’s Claudio Sanchez and best-selling author Peter David, accounted for over 15,000 of the record’s first week sales. Pre-orders for the deluxe edition necessitated a second print run well before the record’s April 13 release.

Having wrapped a triumphant Coachella main stage appearance with a performance of “Welcome Home” featuring the USC Marching Band-one that has generated in excess of 30,000 YouTube plays in the last 72 hours-Coheed and Cambria will embark on what’s shaping up to be the band’s highest grossing headline tour to date beginning April 22 at a sold out Fillmore in Charlotte NC. Other shows that have already gone clean on the tour, which features support from Circa Survive and Torche, include Atlanta, Lake Buena Vista and Fort Lauderdale FL, Austin TX, Pomona CA, Salt Lake City, Boston, two nights each in Philadelphia and Washington DC. Additionally, a May 29 Atlantic City date has been added due to popular demand.

Finally, Coheed and Cambria has pitched in with tour mates Circa Survive and Torche to donate the proceeds of a limited edition silk screened poster by renowned artist Emek. Only 250 of the extremely limited posters will be made, with all copies numbered and signed by all three bands and auctioned off online. All proceeds will go to Oxfam America’s efforts to fight poverty and injustice the world over, including a leading role in providing assistance to Haiti in the aftermath of the recent Earthquake.

[futureusgallerycaption id="attachment_7169" align="alignleft" width="300" caption="Coheed and Cambria"]Coheed and Cambria, the progressive rock outfit who are recording their fifth album, are also spreading their wings by playing to new audiences in 2009 creating more visibility in the metal world, as well as the jam and indie circles more than ever. Earlier this year, the band supported the heavy metal juggernaut, Slipknot, and now mix that with varied festivals such as Mountain Jam, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, and Austin City Limits it’s hard to find a current band that can stretch those kinds of boundaries.

There is another reason for Coheed supporting H&H. Black Sabbath (Dio version) was Claudio and Travis’ favorite group growing up, and Claudio’s very first concert – at NY’s Beacon Theater in October of 1992. “The night would prove to be one of the most influential of my life. I got the overwhelming feeling that the whole stage was alive–the lights seemed to be as controlled by the sounds as everyone there, and I would exit the venue that night with a fire lit under me.”

Seventeen years later, the band shares the stage with their mentors.

[futureusgallerycaption id="attachment_6964" align="alignleft" width="240" caption="Coheed and Cambria Neverender"]“Neverender” was the landmark event where for the first time ever, Coheed and Cambria performed all four of their concept albums in entirety over four nights. TODAY you can re-witness this incredible journey through an amazing box set containing not only a DVD and audio CD of each night’s performance, but also a must-have photobook and documentary DVD that captures the journey leading to this spectacular event. In addition, the limited edition deluxe NEVERENDER: CHILDREN OF THE FENCE EDITION box set also contains a collectible dragonfly.

There are only 15,000 limited box sets available worldwide.

Neverender was originally intended to take place in New York and Los Angeles exclusively. The 15,000 tickets for these shows sold out entirely within an astounding three hours of going on sale. When the band saw how fast all 8 shows sold, they decided to extend the tour to include Chicago and London.

“‘Neverender’ came about because we wanted to celebrate the end of the Coheed and Cambria saga in a special way,” says Coheed frontman Claudio Sanchez. “We wanted to come up with an idea that paid proper respect to this phase of our career, while at the same time gave our fans something truly unique and different. Many of these songs have never been played in front of an audience before so I think we’re going to be freaking out at the same time our fans are. It’s going to be a major challenge. We’re psyched our fans have been so loyal and amazing. We figured they deserved this.”

“Brilliant. Words absolutely fail to describe how epic this thing is. If you don’t have it, get it. It’s worth every penny. They’re so bloody tight, and the musicianship is just astounding! This is an incredible celebration of Coheed and their career so far. The documentary is really cool and enlightening as well. A great package. This is why I love Coheed. They’re truly like no other band out there right now.”

“Wow, just wow, I’m not sure that I can find the words to describe the incredible quality of these DVDs (haven’t gotten to the CDs yet). The editing is beyond brilliant, every shot flows so well with the music. The camera work is phenomenal, scoping individual members at the perfect times, cutting back to the full band, consistently peppered with the very best of the crowd’s intensity.”

Pick up your copy now before it’s too late!
