With nearly 800,000 albums sold on her debut album Small Town Girl, CMA Top New Artist nominee Kellie Pickler is excited to christen the release of her self titled, sophomore album on Tuesday, September 30 when she performs on The Today Show.
Kellie returns to the Today Show where she kicked off her first album nearly two years ago, and she visited the show again last December. On her return visit Kellie said, “The last time I was on the show they were doing a pet adoption segment and a Chihuahua peed on me. I can’t wait to find out what the next adventure will be,” she laughed. “Seriously, I’m so proud of this album, and I can’t wait to share it,” she continued.
Her Today Show performance begins a very busy fourth quarter for Kellie in which she will make numerous national television appearances including a year end stop in Times Square that will reunite her with American Idol host Ryan Seacrest as a correspondent on Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s. Kellie will also spend October and November on the road with CMA Entertainer of the Year nominee Sugarland.
Driven by the hit single, “Don’t You Know You’re Beautiful,” the new album features five songs written by Kellie including “Best Days Of Your Life,” a song she co-wrote with good friend Taylor Swift. Never one to hide her feelings, Kellie lays bare the hurt from a broken relationship with the searing ballads, “I Just Want Somebody To Love Me,” and “One Last Time.”
Tori Amos descended on the scene in the early ‘90s brimming with newfound creativity, intelligence, sensitivity and an exacting literary bearing. Celebrated by critics and the public alike, that first spotlight was a heady time in the young singer/songwriter’s career. On September 30, 2008, Eagle Rock Entertainment, through its wholly-owned Eagle Eye Media subsidiary, will release Tori Amos Live At Montreux 1991/1992 on both CD (16 songs) and DVD (90 minutes, 19 songs) simultaneously sold separately. It is a rare glimpse into that initial breathy rush of a great artist’s ascendancy.
The ’91 gig came only months before her Little Earthquakes debut had catapulted her into an instant icon, the ’92 appearance shortly thereafter. The progression in both performance and audience receptivity is appreciable. Material includes most of her stellar debut but also tracks from her indie EPs and some notable covers (Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love” and “Thank You” as well as Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit”).
Tori Amos’ stark confessional style immediately garnered millions of young fans searching for some semblance of self in an all too imperfect world. Tori’s melodic sense, coupled with her unerring eye for the human foibles of a generation twice removed from the ‘60s sensibilities of her influences, made for a uniquely special art. There was no, and is no, precedent for such a talent. Tori’s obliquely personal oeuvre digs down deep into such dramatic lyrical topics as sexuality, religion and personal tragedy. She touches that universal chord. It’s small wonder she became a major voice right from the outset of her career.

T.I. has unveiled further details of his much-anticipated new album, “PAPER TRAIL.” The multiple Grammy Award-winning superstar will release the follow-up to 2007’s RIAA platinum-certified “T.I. vs T.I.P.” on September 9th.
“I just want everyone to know that it’s coming out and that I’m going to answer a lot of questions in the music,” the ATL-based rapper says of “PAPER TRAIL.” “It’s intense and insightful; it’s gonna shake up the game and it’s me at my best.”
“PAPER TRAIL” has been heralded by the street track, “No Matter What,” on which T.I. directly addresses his current life situation. The track – produced by Danjahandz (Timbaland, 50 Cent, Mariah Carey, Danity Kane) – has been building momentum organically, scoring major airplay at Urban and Rhythmic radio outlets nationwide. The song’s companion video is now in “Medium” rotation at BET and in “Heavy” rotation on the network’s Rap City. At MTV, “No Matter What” is in rotation across the spectrum, including MTV, MTV2, mtvU, MTV Hits, and MTV Jams (where it was recently “Jam of the Week”).
The album’s first official single, “Whatever You Like,” has just hit radio outlets nationwide. The song was produced by Jim Jonsin, whose many credits include Lil Wayne’s current #1 smash, “Lollipop.” In addition, “Swing Your Rag,” a brand-new Swizz Beatz-produced track from “PAPER TRAIL,” has just been added to the player on T.I.’s MySpace page, located at www.trapmuzik.com.
