Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc., today announced SAW 2 is being developed for the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system. Following the success of the first SAW video game and based on Lionsgate®’s and Twisted Pictures’ popular horror film franchise, SAW 2 invites players back into Jigsaw’s twisted world. With new stomach-twisting traps and puzzles, more visceral combat, and an all-new storyline that takes place between the second and third movie players will be able delve deeper into the horror and mystery of Jigsaw’s subjects.

“The original SAW video game gave horror fans and gamers a new outlet to advance their favorite genre, but left them wanting more,” said Careen Yapp, Vice President of Licensing and Acquisitions for Konami Digital Entertainment Inc. “This game gives it to them, but like the saying goes, be careful for what you wish for. Our successful partnership with Lionsgate® and Twisted Pictures allows us to advance the survival horror genre, giving players the most intense look into the SAW universe ever.”

Lionsgate®’s President of Acquisitions and Co-Productions Jason Constantine explains “This year, fans have two great opportunities to be immersed in the world of Saw like never before. First, with this new video game, which offers the deepest and most richly detailed survival horror gaming experience yet, and Halloween comes early this year, when the film franchise goes 3D on October 22, 2010 in theaters nationwide for the first time ever.” Franchise creators and producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules of Twisted Pictures echo the enthusiasm; “Together with Konami and Lionsgate, we are thrilled to be able to meet and exceed the expectations of die hard Saw fans, and indeed all horror and gaming fans, yet again this year.”

Developed by Zombie Studios, SAW 2 puts players in the shoes of Detective Trapp’s estranged son Michael, who is trying to understand his father’s death. Through a series of seemingly unconnected events, the reunion may not be a happy one as he has become Jigsaw’s next victim. In advancing through the story, players will face mind-bending puzzles, as they navigate their way through Jigsaw’s terrifying world, and defend themselves against his minions. In order to survive Jigsaw’s games, players must use their intelligence and desire to live in order to survive.

SAW 2 will be released in North America this Fall, as will Saw VII 3D, the seventh installment of the Saw film franchise, which hits theaters on October 22nd.

Interactive Entertainment announces F.E.A.R. 3, a heart-pounding paranormal horror first person shooter unleashing intense combat, compelling narrative and co-op play that evolves the franchise. F.E.A.R. 3 is set to release on the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, and Windows PC in fall 2010.

Alma returns in F.E.A.R. 3 but this time her sons Point Man and Paxton Fettel introduce divergent co-op, giving players distinctly different abilities affecting their own play as well as the experience of their co-op partner. Gamers participate in single player or co-op modes as Point Man, a genetically enhanced super soldier originally introduced in F.E.A.R., or they can play cooperatively as his conniving brother Paxton Fettel, whose incredible telekinetic power has given him life beyond the grave. The game is developed by Day 1 Studios, developer of the original F.E.A.R. console games in collaboration with Monolith Studios.

“Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is evolving the F.E.A.R. brand with top horror, co-op and first person shooter combat in F.E.A.R. 3,” said Martin Tremblay, President, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “Monolith Productions has passed the torch to Day 1 Studios to create a quality, powerful game that stays true to the roots of the F.E.A.R. franchise but takes players to a heightened level of gameplay.”

To further ensure extreme terror in F.E.A.R. 3, legendary horror director John Carpenter (Halloween, Village of the Damned) and critically acclaimed horror comic and script writer Steve Niles (30 Days of Night) have provided consultation to enhance several of the game’s frightening aspects. Steve Niles co-wrote the game script with the development team and John Carpenter provided his expertise in crafting the in-game cinematics.

“After working closely with Monolith, Day 1 is honored to bring the next iteration of the F.E.A.R. franchise to gamers with key elements of the past games yet providing fresh combat and horror experiences in F.E.A.R. 3,” said Denny Thorley, Founder and President, Day 1 Studios. “Players can look forward to new features such as divergent co-op, an evolved cover system, and more scares in F.E.A.R. 3.”

Unlike no other football game to-date, Backbreaker’s unique over the shoulder perspective delivers the adrenaline-fuelled rush of being right in the middle of the action.

Instead of relying on an unrealistic top-down camera view, Backbreaker follows the perspective of the ball handler, allowing for more true-to-life gameplay, giving players an unrivalled on-field experience. Every explosive hit happens in real-time, instead of relying on pre-scripted, canned animations.

Players can hit the gridiron like never before when Backbreaker hits retailers nationwide on May 25, 2010 at an MSRP of $49.99.

Additionally, the company will release the game that started it all – Metal Gear Solid – on the PlayStation® Network on June 18th, 2009 for the SRP of $9.99.

“Since it’s debut in 1987, the Metal Gear franchise has stood the test of time and continues to break new standards in story-telling and gameplay,” said Anthony Crouts, Vice President of Marketing for Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc., “These two releases are a perfect way to bridge the original game that created this genre with the latest masterpiece that brought it to an all-new level.”

Metal Gear Solid®4: Guns of the Patriots is an action-packed visual masterpiece that offered an entertaining cinematic experience that has redefined videogames. The final chapter in the saga of Solid Snake sends him around the world in pursuit of his arch nemesis, Liquid Ocelot. Armed with new gadgets and abilities, Solid Snake must shift the tides of war into his favor, using the chaos of the battlefield to infiltrate deep into enemy territory. In his globetrotting final mission, Snake must sneak deep into enemy locations in the Middle East, South America, and other corners of the earth to foil Liquid Ocelot’s plans for total world domination.

The originator of the stealth-action genre, the original Metal Gear Solid takes place in the southern Alaska region around the Bering Sea. The player takes control of Solid Snake, a retired military soldier who is ordered to infiltrates a nuclear weapons facility to eliminate FOXHOUND, a genetically enhanced special forces unit that has threatened to launch its nuclear weapon if the government does not cooperate with their demands

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, is developed exclusively for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and includes Metal Gear Online – the online multiplayer experience based on the Metal Gear Solid universe.

Corporate line:
Gran Turismo 5: Prologue features over 60 stunning cars – including vehicles by Lotus, Mitsubishi, Nissan and Ferrari for you to race on seriously realistic, real-life tracks: including the Eiger Nordwand, the London City Track and Suzuka – all rendered in incredible High Definition graphics. There’s also all-new driving physics for the most lifelike driving experience ever and new, improved opponent artificial intelligence for the toughest race challenge yet.

But that’s not all – for the first time ever in the history of Gran Turismo, players will now be able to race online. Up to 16 players will be able to go head-to-head on some of the world’s best racetracks on PlayStation Network. All you need to get racing is a broadband connection and PS3. Once you’re up and revving, Global Online Rankings and the My Garage homepage feature will leave the world in n o doubt as to just who is the best at Gran Turismo.

And then there’s the Online Dealership, providing a wealth of information on cars and manufacturers and also Gran Turismo TV – a dedicated online channel available exclusively from PSN and packed with some of the greatest content that Motorsport, car manufacturers and TV has to offer.

Gameplay:
This version of Gran Turismo is much like the previous where you must unlock events in order to move forward. Typical of a GT release the game gets progressively more and more difficult. And fans will be able to buy different cars–but you won’t be pimping your ride.

In terms of driving, GT5 is difficult. The controls never feel sloppy–which is important because its not easy to conquer. The fifth version of GranTurismo is the closest the franchise gets to become a full on race simulator. The camera views aren’t anything new to the franchise except the nice view from the seat. Still the bumper view is the best as the inside view is little more than a bonus feature. You can also modify your vehicle’s suspension, tires and gears.

The competitors are phenomenal. They occasionally make mistakes but it often feels like you are racing a robot and not a human–which is to say the AI isn’t realistic enough. The competitors are too close to perfect.

There are over 60 cars from a massive amount of auto companies. This is a huge drop from the cars that were available in GT4 however. I know some people are complaining about the lack of cars but truth is I always felt like it was a hinderance to have so many cars and trying to figure out what to drive. It wasn’t something that made me want to come back and drive those cars–instead it was a bit overwhelming. As with previous versions, the cars are as they should be. Cheaper cars suck and expensive cars are great. And it still takes a lot of work to unlock all of the cars.

You can compete on 6 tracks with 12 total layouts, including Fuji Speedway, Suzuka Circuit, and Daytona International Speedway.

Graphics:
The Playstation 3 hasn’t come close to proving its worth until now. GT5 looks amazing. The tracks are some of the most amazing things you’ll have seen yet on the PS3. This is the way hi-def gaming should look. Everything from the mountains to the clouds are visually stunning. The game renders in 1080p at 60 frames per second with crisp, realistic lighting and camera effects (replays rendered in 1080p 30fps).

Audio:
The soundtrack is top-notch with all kinds of musical styles. The sounds of the game are brillant as any simulator should be. It’s not hard to imagine yourself there as the car revs and tires screech.

Finally:
“Gran Turismo 5″ is a great game but not as good as “Dirt.” Even though “Dirt” isn’t meant to be a sim its far more fun. There are occasions when “Gran Turismo 5″ feels too stiff and not fun. It’s a bad thing when fun takes a backseat to realism.

Watch a cool trailer for GT5:
