The record is also No. 1 on the Digital Albums Chart and the Rock Chart. Daughtry moves Michael Jackson from the top of the sales charts, where the late singer has dominated for the previous three weeks.

LEAVE THIS TOWN is Daughtry’s first album to debut at the top of the Billboard 200 and its second consecutive No. 1 album. The band’s self-titled debut entered the charts at #3, sold more than 4.5 million copies, spent two weeks at No. 1 and is still on the charts more than two years after its release. The first single from LEAVE THIS TOWN “No Surprise” is quickly ascending the pop charts and currently with the no. 1 video at Vh1.

Singer Chris Daughtry, bassist Josh Paul, drummer Joey Barnes, and guitarists Brian Craddock and Josh Steely recorded LEAVE THIS TOWN with producer Howard Benson.

“This album is special because it’s our first together as a band,” Chris Daughtry said. “We poured our hearts into these songs to make the record we’ve always dreamed about. To have people respond the way they have is extremely gratifying, but even more humbling.”

Simon Fuller, CEO of 19 Entertainment, comments: “Daughtry have become a legitimate rock band – passionate, united and dedicated. For their sophomore album to debut at number one is a spectacular achievement. I’m proud to be associated with Chris, Josh, JP, Joey and Brian. Long may their successful journey together continue.”

“Daughtry possesses a rare common touch that allows his band’s music to hit a nerve with the public unlike most artists today. This great result on top of the group’s last album which was the fastest-selling rock debut in history is proof of that. The RCA/Jive Label Group is thrilled to be a part of Daughtry’s continued success,” says Barry Weiss Chairman and CEO, RCA/Jive Label Group.

LEAVE THIS TOWN has received outstanding reviews, earning raves for singer Chris Daughtry’s powerful voice. “…an instrument cleaner and stronger than anybody else singing mainstream rock right now,” said the Los Angeles Times while People gave the album three out of four stars, noting: “His voice has never sounded better.” The Seattle Times called the album “more confident and eclectic” a point confirmed by other publications, including The Detroit News and Free Press, which said: “a powerhouse voice that’s nicely matched with some well-written, diverse material.” In a cover story, Billboard observed, “…it’s another record full of songs that make you want to roll down the car windows and bust a vocal cord or two while trying to match Daughtry’s gravelly wail.”

With LEAVE THIS TOWN, the band is poised to continue the global success it achieved with the group’s debut. The album earned the band Grammy nominations, American Music Award wins and charted three No. 1 hits; a rare feat for any artist.

Singer Chris Daughtry, bassist Josh Paul, drummer Joey Barnes, and guitarists Brian Craddock and Josh Steely recorded the album’s 12 songs in Los Angeles with returning producer Howard Benson (All-American Rejects, My Chemical Romance).

Many of the songs from “Leave This Town,” Daughtry says, reflect how where we’ve been determines where we’re going, including the first single “No Surprise,” which has been the #1 most added at Hot AC 4 weeks in a row. The “No Surprise” video was directed by Nathan Cox. In it, the song’s theme of love gone wrong is expressed through the character’s relationship with the town where he lives. “The place you call home can cause heartbreak just like a bad relationship,” Chris says. “Places change just like people change. Sometimes the best thing you can do is leave.”

The album’s title comes from a line in “September,” a new song Daughtry wrote with Steely. The bittersweet ballad draws on the singer’s experiences growing up with his brother in a tiny North Carolina town. “Every time I hear that song it takes me back to my summers in Lasker,” he says. “I loved growing up there, but I knew I’d have leave to make something of my life.”

The entire album features inspired performances by the quintet held together by anthemic hooks, impassioned vocals, and lyrics laced with wisdom found through searching horizons and rearviews. The songs shift smoothly from powerful arena-rock (“No Surprise,” “Ghost of Me”), to hushed ballads (“September”) and emotional mid-tempo rockers (“Life After You,” “Learned My Lesson”). LEAVE THIS TOWN also includes the country-influenced “Tennessee Line,” a track Daughtry wrote with Craddock that features vocal harmonies by country-music superstar Vince Gill.

Released on July 14, the album once again produced by Howard Benson (All-American Rejects, My Chemical Romance) features a dozen plus songs, including the first single, “No Surprise.”

Chris Daughtry, bassist Josh Paul, drummer Joey Barnes, and guitarists Brian Craddock and Josh Steely recorded Leave This Town in Los Angeles. Much of the album explores the different paths we take in our search for transcendence. “A lot of it is about how leaps of faith can set us free or tie us down, and how we often find heartache when we run from something and redemption when we run toward something,” says Chris Daughtry.

Musically, the album shifts gears smoothly between arena-rock anthems (“No Surprise,” “Ghost of Me”), hushed ballads (“September”), emotional mid-tempos (“Life After You,” “Learned My Lesson”) and country-influenced (“Tennessee Line”).

Leave This Town is Daughtry’s follow-up to its 2006 GRAMMY-nominated debut, which sold 5 million copies worldwide. The eponymous album spawned a trio of #1 songs, was the largest-selling artist release for two years running, and earned multiple wins at the American Music Awards, the World Music Awards and the Billboard Music Awards.

It is the first track from their 19 Recordings/RCA July 14 release. Daughtry is currently in the studio finishing the yet to be titled album, which follows the band’s GRAMMY-nominated, quadruple-platinum debut.

“American Idol fans have been so loyal to this band, we wanted to give them the first listen to our new single,” says singer Chris Daughtry.

Daughtry, bassist Josh Paul, drummer Joey Barnes, and guitarists Brian Craddock and Josh Steely recorded the new album’s 10-plus songs in Los Angeles. Boasting a more gritty sound, the new album features a band sharpened by two years on the road, where they’ve graduated from clubs and theaters to opening arenas for Nickelback and Bon Jovi.

The new album follows the runaway success of Daughtry’s 2006 debut, which scored three #1 songs and was the biggest-selling artist release for two years running. The accolades garnered by Daughtry include multiple wins at the American Music Awards, the World Music Awards and the Billboard Music Awards.

Active in the fight against global poverty and disease, Daughtry supports the ONE Campaign. Last year, the band performed at both political conventions to raise awareness for the ONE Campaign and encourage first-time voters.

To celebrate the global success of the record-breaking debut from 19/RCA recording artist DAUGHTRY, the Grammy-nominated group announces it will release a deluxe version of the band’s debut September 9.

Powered by a trio of #1 songs, “It’s Not Over,” “Home,” and “Feels Like Tonight.” DAUGHTRY has become the biggest selling artist release of the past two years and the fastest selling rock debut in Soundscan history. The expanded CD/DVD version of the group’s self-titled debut features the album’s original 12 songs along with four bonus tracks on CD—including acoustic performances of “Home,” recorded in the studio, and “What About Now,” recorded earlier this year on Idol Gives Back. Making its debut on this collection is DAUGHTRY’s cover of the Foreigner classic, “Feels Like The First Time.” which is being featured in CNN’s League of First Time Voters campaign.

The bonus DVD contains videos for all five of the singles from DAUGHTRY, live performances and exclusive interviews with the band as they tell stories about the DAUGHTRY’S meteoric rise. Just like the album, the accompanying booklet has been expanded as well with photos from the road.

While DAUGHTRY gives back to its fans with the deluxe version of its debut, the band gives back to charity with a new video for its latest single “What About Now.” An active supporter of charity organizations from the start, the band will donate proceeds from the video to the following groups: Action Sports Environmental Coalition; Amnesty International; Charity: Water; Doctors Without Borders; Homeboy Industries; Insight Prison Project; Keep a Child Alive; Love, Light and Melody; Room to Read; Seacology; Surfaid International; and Urban Compass.
