15-year old Los Angeles-based Jessica Jarrell – who will join fellow Teen Island star Justin Bieber on his first headlining North American tour this summer – is in the spotlight as her brand new single “Up and Running” hits pop and rhythm radio formats across the country on June 21st.

The video for the single, produced by hit making duo, The Runners, will be shot in New York on June 21st, as her single is impacting at radio. News of the summer release of Jessica’s debut album on Mercury Records will be announced in the months ahead.

Jessica’s Mercury career started at the top of the charts with, “Armageddon,” a Top 5 Billboard dance hit. Elsewhere, Jessica can be heard on “Overboard,” a duet with Justin Bieber, co-written and co-produced by Midi Mafia, on Justin’s #1 album MY WORLD 2.0. Fitting her upbeat, feel-good vibe, she can be seen in the summer print campaign for Pastry’s newest dance sneaker.

A working singer and child model since age two, Jessica is also a seasoned young songwriter. She draws inspiration for her lyrics from her family, teenage experiences at school and in her budding music career – as well as her daydreams. “Words are spinning in my head,” she said about the ‘old soul’ perspective of her writing. “I hope everyone can have fun listening to it, but I hope everyone will learn something because they can relate to what I’m singing about too!”

Both the single and the steamy video which was directed by Joseph Kahn (Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Katy Perry) are now available for purchase from major digital music stores. Aphrodite which has already been described as “Perfect” by the New York Post will follow 3 weeks later, available to fans on July 6th. The album is available to pre-order on iTunes as an exclusive iTunes deluxe edition that includes a bonus audio track, live video content, behind the scenes footage and more. Fans looking for the physical product can pre-order a special limited CD+DVD edition. U.S. residents have the chance to preview key tracks from the album by registering for and downloading a free 6-song Aphrodite Megamix MP3 at http://www.astralwerks.com/kylie/us_signup. Kylie premiered the megamix at New York City club Splash when she made a surprise appearance on June 4th. Kylie is currently featured on the cover of the June/July issue of BlackBook Magazine.

“All The Lovers” is climbing charts around the globe, it is #1 on the UK radio airplay charts and entered the Billboard Dance chart last week at #31 after just 1 week of airplay. The Joseph Kahn directed video made it’s online premiere on MSN and network premiere on MTV Networks LOGO. Kylie performed the track live for the first time at the Wind Awards in Italy and performed last week on the finale of “Germany’s Next Top Model.” Kylie will appear on the telecast of LOGO’s New Next Now awards on tonight on LOGO.

Aphrodite sees Kylie celebrate her dance-floor roots and features Stuart Price as Executive Producer. The list of songwriters includes Kylie, Stuart Price, Calvin Harris, the Scissor Sisters’ Jake Shears, Nerina Pallot, Swedish House Mafia, NERVO and Keane’s Tim Rice-Oxley.

In the Fall of 2009 Kylie stormed America to sell out her first ever North American tour. The 6-city tour kicked off in Oakland and made stops in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto and New York, wowing fans and critics alike at each stop. Entertainment Weekly called the show a “two-hour post-disco fantasia of strobe, bass, and glitter—an all-out spectacle.” The New York Times claimed “The concert (was) efficient, clobbering, expensive, generous…close to an alternate reality.” Kylie treated her U.S. fans with a new song “Better Than Today” which she played for the first time during the tour.

Over the course of her extraordinary 20-plus-year-career, Kylie Minogue has been a global force in pop music and is one of the world’s most successful female artists with more than 60 million albums sold worldwide, 50 hit singles including the U.S. Billboard dance-chart toppers “Can’t Get You Our of My Head,” “Love At First Sight,” “Slow,” and the Grammy-Award winning “Come Into My World.” She has received countless awards and accolades including an OBE from the Queen, 8 sold-out world tours including the KylieX2008 tour which traveled to 21 countries throughout Europe, South America, Dubai, Asia, New Zealand and Australia. R.E.M. to release anniversary edition of “Fables Of The Reconstruction”

0

REM
REM
R.E.M. has teamed with Capitol/I.R.S. for the July 13 release of an expanded 25th Anniversary 2CD and digital edition of the band’s 1985 album, Fables Of The Reconstruction. The new edition features the digitally remastered original album, plus 14 previously unreleased demo recordings, cut prior to the album’s studio sessions, including one long-sought track that has never been released. The commemorative release also adds insightful new liner notes by R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck, with the 2CD package presented in a lift-top box with a poster and four postcards. On the same date, the remastered original album will be released on 180-gram vinyl.

Fables Of The Reconstruction, recorded during the winter of 1985 in London, England, distant in geography, weather and culture from R.E.M.’s Athens, Georgia home, represented a musical step forward for the band and its members, vocalist Michael Stipe, guitarist Peter Buck, bassist Mike Mills, and drummer Bill Berry.

Produced by Joe Boyd (also known for his work with British folk and folk-rock musicians, including Nick Drake, Richard Thompson, and Fairport Convention), Fables marked the beginning of a more narrative, storytelling lyrical style in R.E.M.’s songwriting, with its songs spinning vivid tales of everyday life in the American South.

Before going to London to record, R.E.M. huddled in Jim Hawkins’ Athens, Georgia studio for a few weeks, woodshedding and building new songs from fragments, including many which had emerged during soundchecks along the band’s 1984 tour.
In his liner notes, Peter Buck recalls, “The last day of rehearsal, I think with Joe Boyd in attendance, Jim Hawkins recorded what we had come up with. We spent about four hours recording all the new songs live, with minimal overdubs. I hadn’t listened to this stuff since we recorded it, and I’m kind of stunned at how good it is. My memory of the rehearsals is us scrambling to finish songs. The songs on both Murmur and Reckoning had been performed for months if not years by the time they were committed to tape. I remember feeling dangerously unprepared when we flew to London, but on the evidence of this recording we must have known what we were doing.”

“The Athens Demos,” as R.E.M. has dubbed them, comprise the new edition’s second disc of 14 previously unreleased recordings, including drafts of Fables’ 11 songs and three additional tracks that didn’t make the album. The three non-album demos include two early versions of songs that were later revisited by the band and recorded for other releases and one song, “Throw Those Trolls Away,” making its release debut on this new edition.
In the U.S., Fables Of The Reconstruction peaked at #28 on The Billboard 200, and its singles, “Can’t Get There From Here” and “Driver 8,” reached #14 and #22 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock chart, respectively. In the U.K., Fables reached #35, the band’s highest U.K. chart position to that point in their career.

“It’s a personal favorite,” writes Buck, “and I’m really proud of how strange it is. Nobody but R.E.M. could have made that record. It took our four twisted personalities and the legendary Joe Boyd to make an album that character-filled and vibey.”

Outkast Big Boi to release “Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty”

Big Boi
Big Boi
The world knows him as Big Boi -Antwan André Patton – one-half of multi-platinum, five-time Grammy Award-winning supergroup OutKast, whose albums and singles have sold over 25-times platinum in the U.S. alone. Now make way for SIR LUCIOUS LEFT FOOT: THE SON OF CHICO DUSTY, Big Boi’s first stand-alone solo album, nearly four years in the making and finally set to arrive July 6th on Def Jam Recordings. 10 days later, Big Boi joins the lineup at the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago’s Union Park, over the July 16-18th weekend.

Big Boi is already back in the picture with his Def Jam debut,”Shutterbug” featuring Cutty, produced by Scott Storch, the lead single fromSIR LUCIOUS LEFT FOOT. Writing on the Wall Street Journal’s Speakeasy blog last week, Jozen Cummings elaborated on a few other tracks: “… the melodic ‘Turn Me On,’ produced by long-time OutKast collaborators, Organized Noize… the widely bootlegged ‘”Tangerine’ featuring T.I…. And the Lil Jon-produced ‘Hustle Blood’… complete with Jamie Foxx singing the hook.”

The tentative track listing for SIR LUCIOUS LEFT FOOT is: 1. Feel Me (Intro) * 2. Daddy Fat Sax * 3. Shutterbugg featuring Cutty * 4. Follow Us * 5. General Patton * 6. Bubble Bath Bobby (Interlude) * 7. Tangerine featuring T.I. * 8. Looking For Ya featuring André 3000 * 9. Turns Me On * 10. Shine Blocka featuring Gucci Mane * 11. King Henry (Interlude) * 12. Hustle Blood featuring Jamie Foxx * 13. Night, Night * 14. ADP (Interlude) * 15. Fo Yo Sorrows * 16. The Train Pt. 2 * 17. Back Up Plan (Go).

Big Boi’s signing to the Island Def Jam Music Group marks a reunion with the label’s Chairman, Antonio ‘L.A.’ Reid, as officially announced throughout the media last week. “L.A. knows what time it is since I was a teeny bopper, so when I first started working on the record I talked to L.A.,” Big Boi told Mariel Concepcion of Billboard.com, referring to Mr. Reid’s near 20-year association with OutKast. The duo signed their first record deal with Mr. Reid, and his Atlanta-based LaFace Records, the label he founded with Babyface. He has been in OutKast’s corner since the creation of their first album, 1994’sSouthernplayalisticadillacmuzik, which was recorded when Big Boi was still a teenager. A decade later in 2003, OutKast released Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, their 5th studio album, a landmark double-CD containing solo albums by Big Boi and his partner André 3000, respectively. One of the biggest-selling hip-hop albums in history – 11-times platinum in the U.S., over 15 million worldwide – the album generated three Grammys (including Best Rap Album and Album Of the Year) and spun off two life-changing #1 hit singles, André 3000’s “Hey Ya!” and Big Boi’s “The Way You Move” (with Sleepy Brown).

SIR LUCIOUS LEFT FOOT is essentially Big Boi’s first stand-alone solo album project since Speakerboxxx. As reported by New York magazine, “he started working on his solo album on Martin Luther King Day … three years ago.” Now the wait is over – and SIR LUCIOUS LEFT FOOT walks amongst us!
