Ludacris’ braids – what happened?

Q: I loved Ludacris’ braids. They were tight. Do you have photos of him with braids? – Kimmy Chitown, IL

A: We did some digging, but it wasn’t too difficult to find. Most people seemed to want to know why he cut the braids. Here is a quote straight from Luda: “The haircut was, quote, ‘a spur of the moment kind of thing’ but totally necessary as he felt that people needed to get to know a little about the man behind his on-stage persona. As a matter of fact, that’s what ‘Release Therapy’ is all about.”

Propaganda lyrics for “Eye to Eye”

Propaganda
Propaganda
Question:
A song containing the lyrics ‘the first cut won’t hurt at all, the second only make you wonder, the third will have you on your knees…’ I think by Art of Noise. What is the song title? – Alan

Answer:
The band is Propaganda and the song is “Eye To Eye (duel -the First Side)”

Here are all the lyrics:

Eye to eye stand winners and losers
hurt by envy, cut by greed
Face to face with their own disillusions
The scars of old romances still on their sheets.
And when blow by blow the passion dies
Sweet little deaths just have been lies
Some memories of gone by times will still recall the lines

The first cut won’t hurt at all
The second only makes you wonder
The third will have you on your knees
You start bleeding
I start screaming

It’s too late
the decision is made by fate
Time to prove what forever should last.
Whose feelings are so true as to stand the test?
Whose demands are so strong as to parry all attacks?
And when blow by blow the passion dies
The first cut won’t hurt at all
The first cut won’t hurt at all
The first cut won’t hurt at all

What kind of music do Brazilians listen to?

We had a reader email and ask what kind of music Brazilians listen to. Although we aren’t experts, we did some research and here is what we found out.

A great resource for information is both About.com and Wikipedia for information.

About says that: “Although Brazil is the fifth largest country in the world, with a total land mass larger than the U.S., most people are only familiar with two of it’s musical forms: samba and bossa nova. But there is much, much more than that. Music plays a major role in Brazilian life and Brazil’s music is as wide as the country itself and as diverse as it’s people.”

Both sources list seven main music styles: Portuguese, Lundu and Maxixe, Choro, Samba, Bossa Nova, Baiao and Forro and Musica Popular Brasilera. There are also a few other styles that might be of interest: Tropicalia, musica nordestina, repentismo, frevo, capoeira, maracatu and afoxe are just some of the other popular musical styles that abound in a country that loves to sing and dance.

If you are interested in a taste of the wonderful music from Brazil you can go to Clique Music.
