Crossbreed – Synthetic Division

Crossbreed
Artist: Crossbreed
Title: Synthetic Division
Label: Artemis
Rating: 4/10

Crossbreed would love to make you think they are bringing something unique with a large mix of techno, metal, and funky hooks. Are they posers or the real deal?

“Severed” and “Lost Soul” – poser – Extremely Limp Bizkit influenced.

“Seasons” – poser – Korn tastes better when it’s left on the cob.

“Underlined” and “Regretful Times” – draw – Riff heavy, sort of reminds me a bit of Faith No More with a little Marilyn Manson mixed in for good measured. However, it never measures up to either.

“Breathe” – poser – The synth riff gets completely lost when they throw the guitar amps up to ten and mix everything heavy over the top. The synth sounded good to open, but mixed with the vocals it gets extremely annoying. Wanna-be Orgy and Limp Bizkit.

“Pure Energy”, “Stem” and “Painted Red” – draw – A funky Rob Zombie/Orgy feel with all the odd samples and bizarre dungeon energy. It’s heavy alright, but that doesn’t mean it’s great.

“Release Me”, “Machines”, – poser – Limp Bizkit has done it better.

“Concentrate” – real – The first time on the whole disc they didn’t completely sound like a cover band.
