“Be My Runaway”, the latest EP by Racing Kites, showcases the band’s melodic pop/rock energy. Following the band’s well received EP, We Hold it All Together, their new release was recorded with Rob Freeman (Hit the Lights, Cobra Starship) and Zack Odom/Kenneth Mount (All Time Low, Cartel, Mayday Parade). Racing Kites continues to earn praise from fans and critics alike. The band was one of the top sellers on smartpunk.com and PureVolume named them one of their top 21 unsigned bands. A full U.S. tour has been announced and includes two shows at this year’s Bamboozle Left (see dates on back).

At the heart of New Jersey’s Racing Kites are five best friends who share the same goal and passion for music. Says singer/songwriter, Alex Ziabko: “Music is my oxygen; I’m writing and playing music with my best friends and I wouldn’t have it any other way.” Ziabko and drummer Rick Szpakowski bonded over a jukebox at their part-time job, listening to some of their favorite artists like Fall Out Boy, Something Corporate and The Starting Line. Their love of music sparked a fire in both boys to start their own band and Racing Kites became a reality. Rounding out the lineup are Matt Howard (guitar), Matthew Federer (guitar) and Preston Rahbari (bass).

Racing Kites’ 2006 release, We Hold It All Together sold close to 2,000 CDs and 2,300 downloads on Itunes. Absolutepunk featured them as a “top band to know” and in 2008, Abercrombie & Fitch selected Racing Kites’ CD sampler to be played in its stores nationwide. Their powerful live shows, a steady tour schedule that included Bamboozle East, and opening slots for Cartel and All Time Low, have gained the band a loyal following.
